How effective is Bovaer® at reducing methane over the long term? Our latest feed study follows dairy cows across multiple lactation periods to evaluate the long-term effectiveness and safety of Bovaer®. 🐄

Lead Ph.D. student Alexis Wivell and her team of interns and postdoctoral researchers, including Dr. Stuart Kirwan and Dr. Lindsay Westbrook, have been managing the day-to-day work of this project, keeping every aspect of this long-term study moving forward.

This project was awarded a grant from the California Department of Food and Agriculture’s Livestock Enteric Methane Emission Reduction Research Program (LEMER-RP) and was kicked off by Dr. Conor McCabe, who has since graduated.

What makes California olive oil worth a closer look? Mary Mori of California Olive Ranch explains how @ucdavisolivecenter research helped California producers gain global attention and challenged the quality of imported olive oils.

A major 2010 study raised questions about whether the olive oil on store shelves lived up to its label. Mori shares what that research meant for California’s olive oil industry. She also explains how federally funded research helps reveal the chemistry of California olive oils and demonstrate their quality.

This video is part of From Labs to Lives, a UC Davis series showing how research shapes everyday life.

Happy anniversary to the Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Science! The Mondavi family donated $25 million to the college in 2001 to study, advance and improve wine, brewing and food sciences.  What grew out of that seed donation is now a complex with five buildings and a vineyard where students, researchers and scientists are making groundbreaking discoveries while training the next generation of leaders. Cheers to the RMI!!
