What does it take to pull off the largest student-run event in the United States?

Behind the tens of thousands of attendees, packed activity schedule, and beloved traditions are more than 90 students working to make Picnic Day happen.

For Letters and Science Ambassador Iteoluwa Aladesanmi, serving as Operations Director for the 112th Picnic Day offered a firsthand look at the planning, problem-solving, and collaboration that power one of the University of California, Davisโ€™ biggest traditions.

Go behind the scenes at the link in our bio. A person stands outdoors in front of a tree, wearing a navy polo shirt with a UC Davis logo and a yellow name tag that reads "Hello, Iteoluwa." They have long braided hair. A thought bubble above their head contains an icon of a sun over water. The background is a park-like setting with greenery. taken in UC Davis by @ucdlands

To get to SSH 1131, enter off E Quad across the street from the campus store and left of 1100 SSH; there will be signs pointing you in the right direction! A person with a backpack walks through a concrete corridor with steps leading upwards. The text at the top reads "Resume Review." #AggieSummer
How are you staying busy this summer?
โ€œThis summer, I interned at Morrison & Foerster, a Big Law firm in San Francisco. Over the course of 10 weeks, I worked in the Finance Department, where I gained valuable insight into the business operations of a law firm and the systems that support both attorneys and clients. I contributed to the rollout of the firmโ€™s new revenue management platform by reviewing and cleaning data across multiple offices. I also learned how to use Claude to develop prompts that could automate manual workflows and improve efficiency. In addition, I worked with my team on a Client Service Principles project exploring how AI could strengthen collaboration and enhance the quality of client service. As part of the project, we developed a GPT designed to translate unfamiliar legal and business terminology into clear, accessible language. These experiences gave me valuable insight into the intersection of technology, finance, and innovation in the legal field and how they are shaping the profession.โ€

How does this add to your current major or future career?
โ€œThis opportunity played an important role in preparing me for success in law school and beyond. I gained firsthand insight into how law firms are adapting to an evolving legal landscape, particularly with AI. As I plan to apply to law school after graduation, the exposure and experience I gained through this opportunity will be valuable in shaping my understanding of the legal profession.โ€

The universe has never been seen quite like this. ๐ŸŒŒ

UC Davis physicist Tony Tyson helped turn a decades-long dream into reality with the Vera C. Rubin Observatory, which has begun a 10-year mission to create the most detailed, cinematic map of the universe ever attempted.

Visit the link in our bio to read more. A large telescope is positioned inside an observatory under a sky filled with star trails, indicating long exposure photography. The interior is dimly lit with some orange and green lights illuminating parts of the structure. taken in UC Davis by @ucdlands
