The last matcha tin you'll buy.
Brushed steel, made for the counter, refilled with first-harvest matcha pods from Uji.

The full Uchi ritual, filmed by @anhthilam_ . The Base opened, the Pod inside. One level Spoon, then a second. The matcha through the Sieve, water, then the Whisk, a hundred and twenty prongs, until the bowl is ready. She filmed it with more patience than we could have asked for. Every step in its own light, nothing rushed, the objects left to do the talking. #matcharitual #ceremonialmatcha #matchaathome by @uchimatcha
Inside every Pod is single-origin matcha from Horii Shichimeien in Uji, Japan, a tea house founded in 1879. Stone-ground on their own estate. Matcha fades quickly once it meets air, most matcha loses colour and flavour soon after the bag is opened. Each Pod is sealed, and a new one arrives only when your last runs out. Buy the steel Base once and keep it. Replace only the Pod, then recycle it. One object you own, refills that stay fresh, whilst minimizing waste. by @uchimatcha
You’ve met the matcha, now meet the one who put it in the tin. I’m June, I left my career as a chef to put really good matcha in a really nice tin. by @uchimatcha
Fine enough to hold a fingerprint. Stone-ground matcha this fine is what lets the whisk build a smooth, even foam. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #stonemilled #matchapowder #uchimatcha by @uchimatcha
That time of the year again. The mornings are darker in Amsterdam, and the matcha latte is hot again. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #matchalatte #autumnmornings #uchimatcha by @uchimatcha
My story on why Uchi was born. Before the Base, my matcha lived in a glass jar on the counter, because every tin I found was pink, green or covered in labels. Then I learned that light and air are what dull matcha, and a clear jar lets in both. So we made the opposite: an airtight, light-proof steel Base that looks right left out. The matcha arrives in a Pod that goes in whole. The Base stays, the Pod is replaced. - June ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #founderstory #matchastorage #uchimatcha by @uchimatcha
The thinking behind Uchi, in ten pages. Why the brand stays quiet, where Uchi Red comes from, and what we mean when we say home. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #uchimatcha #brandidentity #matcha by @uchimatcha
Uchi means home in Japanese. Ours is Amsterdam, where the Base and Pod were designed to live on a kitchen counter, not in a cupboard. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #amsterdam #matcha #uchimatcha by @uchimatcha
Have you ever soaked your matcha whisk? Dry bamboo snaps, which is why a chasen loses prongs. A minute in warm water before you whisk softens the prongs so they bend instead of breaking. Save this for your next bowl. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #chasen #howtomakematcha #uchimatcha by @uchimatcha
Refill day at @sterrebooij in Amsterdam: the empty Pod comes out, a new one goes into the Base. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #refillday #matchaathome #uchimatcha by @uchimatcha
How we make matcha at home: two grams of Uji matcha, 30 ml of water at 70 to 80 degrees, never boiling, then whisk. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #matcha #matcharitual #uchimatcha by @uchimatcha
