A home can survive the flames and still be damaged. CCF joined Mayor Karen Bass, Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, community leaders and survivors of the Eaton and Palisades fires to launch Standing Homes, a new campaign for people whose homes remain standing but may not be safe. At standinghomes.la, survivors can find a step-by-step process informed by people who have been through it, along with legal assistance, emotional support and technical guidance. For many people affected by the January 2025 fires, January 7, 2027 may be an important deadline for taking legal action. This is not a deadline to first file an insurance claim, and exact deadlines can vary. Survivors are encouraged to seek legal guidance now. Could a vaccine for one Ebola virus help fight another? A new @uclafielding-led study published in @thelancetgroup found that people vaccinated with ERVEBO, the vaccine licensed for Zaire ebolavirus, developed an immune response to Bundibugyo ebolavirus — the virus driving the current outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The findings come as ERVEBO is being incorporated into the outbreak response, with a Phase 3 clinical trial planned to determine whether the vaccine provides protection against Bundibugyo Ebola disease.
