Please join us in welcoming another new member to our alumni crew - Madisyn Anyimi. @anyimi_maddie

Maddie graduated in June of 2026 with a BS in Applied Mathematics, and hopes to pursue a graduate degree beginning in the fall of 2027.

She was honored as the 2025 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar, and winner of numerous academic awards throughout her career including the Big 10 Distinguished Scholar Award, Academic All Big-10 and UCLA All-Academic Team.

In addition, she hit all 30 routines she competed in her career with career bests of 9.9 on vault and bars and 9.875 on floor.

As we begin to wrap up summer, let’s officially welcome some of the newest Bruin gymnastics graduates into our alumni community. Today we shout out Ciena Alipio @ciena.37 , whose many accomplishments include scoring a perfect 10 in 2025 to win the Big 10 Balance Beam Title, along with back-to-back First-Team Postseason All-American honors on beam in 2025 and 2026.

Ciena graduated in June with a degree in Sociology, and plans to pursue a Masters in Psychology, with the goal of becoming a licensed psychologist.

Today on campus at Yates Gym the @uclagymnastics team enjoyed a post-season celebration sponsored by our alumni gymnastics group. Thanks to your generous donations and the work of event organizer and hall of famer @brittanijolai, the team was gifted special bags complete with journals and pens and alumni baseball hats for the seniors. The gathering also served as a welcome into our alumni community for the seniors who have meant so much to the team and our program. Thank you seniors! 💙💛

Shout out to @joelfierberg of the @uclalumniband and #uclagymalumni for his steadfast support and meaningful presence all season long, including today.

Seniors can expect an official alumni welcome letter and introduction to our group in the weeks ahead. This week a handful of alums showed up to cheer on legendary gymnastics alum @pengpengclee in her first live mini concert at Peppermint Club in LA. What a thrill to watch Peng slay her set and perform like the star she has always been!

Bruins will never forget her two perfect 10.0’s at the 2018 NCAA Championships punctuated by her iconic final beam routine that launched UCLA from 4th to 1st, clinching the national title by the smallest margin in NCAA history. Truly iconic! We love you, Peng! #Perfect10 #BruinGymLegend #Artist

Some Bruin Gym Alum moments from the NCAA Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, Texas…Well done @samanthapeszek for your great work on the ESPN broadcast. Gymnastics fans also enjoyed a conversation with @chae.jada who was a guest on the @gymcastic live podcast show, and many alums showed up in support of a team and a program we are all very proud of. 💙💛

The Bruins finished 3rd in the semifinal competition missing the “Four on the Floor” finals, where Oklahoma ultimately captured the National title.

While the season did not wrap up as the Bruins might have hoped, there are many incredible moments to celebrate this year - from the Big 10 Championship to numerous individual accomplishments and national awards galore. Much to be proud of and more inspiration for next season. Let’s Go Bruins! 💙💛

The 1984 UCLA Men’s Gymnastics National Championship Team was honored at Pauley Pavilion recently (Feb. 21st) during the UCLA Men’s Basketball Game vs. Illinois. 👏👏

The men’s program, founded in 1965, is the bedrock on which UCLA Gymnastics was built. The program was a powerhouse in men’s collegiate gymnastics, during an era that also produced multiple Olympic champions and leaders of the sport.

The men won two NCAA Team Championships in 1984 & 1987, and boasted 3 members of the 1984 Olympic team that won gold for Team USA. Mitch Gaylord, Peter Vidmar and Tim Daggett represented Team USA at those LA Olympics, where the gymnastics venue was none other than their home arena, Pauley Pavilion.

The 1984 championship team featured here was coached by the late great Art Shurlock, along with assistant coach Motoka Sakamoto.

The program was sadly discontinued in 1994, but the men’s program and their incredible legacy will be forever etched in UCLA’s history. 💙💛🥇🏆 by @uclagymalumni
