What are you doing 15 months after graduating?

If you recently graduated from UCL, you will be invited to take part in the Graduate Outcomes Survey. The national survey asks about what graduates are doing around 15 months after completing their studies.

Your response helps UCL to:

• Better understand graduate experiences and outcomes
• Improve our courses and careers support
• Contribute to national higher education data

It takes just 10 minutes to complete. Look out for an email from ucl@graduateoutcomes.ac.uk.

You might also receive texts from GradOutcome or calls from the Graduate Outcomes team.

Please complete the survey by 30 November. Every response helps build an accurate picture of what our graduates go on to do. A social media slide featuring text next to a black and white image of 2 students, one male, one female.

The text says: Take 10 minutes to shape the future. Shape the future. Graduate outcomes survey. Thousands of graduate voices. One survey. by @uclcrimescience

Last week the department enjoyed hosting a delegation of students from Jeonbuk National University in South Korea.

The students had lunch with department staff, were given a tour of our forensic laboratories, and even met Jeremy Bentham.

Earlier this year, Dr Alina Ristea (Lecturer in Security and Crime Science) hosted an event which brought together Alesja Gilvear (co-founder of the Safest Way app) and Craig Nelson (street photographer) to examine how urban environments shape perceptions of safety, particularly for women and girls.

The Women’s Safety Exhibition featured portraits of women from diverse backgrounds, photographed in locations where they feel unsafe—often everyday spaces close to home that influence their routes, behaviours, and access to the city.

Last month, the department gathered for the annual Nick Ross Prize ceremony, which recognises exceptional undergraduate dissertations demonstrating creative thinking in crime prevention and security. 🔎

This year’s prize was awarded to Niki Callista for her innovative research examining how threat modelling frameworks can address the cybersecurity challenges facing smart grids.

Nick Ross CBE said:

'I hope that Niki's excellent research will prompt those who run smart grids to get up to speed on the risks to themselves and to national resilience posed by criminals and hostile state actors. This is where crime science is at its best, not just responding to crime but stopping crime before it can happen. It’s pragmatic work like Niki’s that makes the world a safer place and upholds the spirit of the prize.'

Congratulations to Niki and thank you to everyone who attended the ceremony! 🙌
