POSTS STORIES REELS

Ucross invites visual artists, writers, choreographers, dancers, composers, interdisciplinary artists, performance artists, media artists, and collaborative groups to apply for the Fall 2027 artist residency session.

Our program offers both emerging and established artists the opportunity to focus deeply on their work in the inspiring setting of our 20,000-acre ranch in the Wyoming High Plains. Artists-in-residence receive a private studio, comfortable living accommodations, chef-prepared meals, a stipend, and full staff support — an ideal environment for artistic exploration.

In addition, the dedicated Ucross Fellowships for Native American Artists provides visual artists and writers with residencies, a waived application fee, an award, and the opportunity to present work publicly.

The deadline for all applications is January 15 at 11:59 p.m. MT. To learn more and apply, please visit the link in our bio.

PS Uncertain about the application process? By tonight, send your questions info@ucross.org, and we will answer in our first-ever How to Apply Webinar, which will be released next week.

Thank you to those who joined us for the last sound hike of the year last week. While the series is over, you can still experience “Confluences” at Ucross.

On Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., listen to the emplaced sound experience as you explore the grounds. Check in at the Ucross Art Gallery; while you’re here, be sure to explore our other exhibitions, such as “In Company,” the Big Red Showcases featuring Ucross Fellows Tracy Stuckey (@tracystuckey) and Arin Waddell (@arin_waddell), and “Tearjerker: Brokeback Mountain” at the Raymond Plank Center.

Our current exhibition at the Ucross Art Gallery, “In Company,” is centered around the themes of influence, exchange, and kinship. We invited seven alumni to show in our gallery; each, in turn, invited an artist whose work has influenced their own.

Ucross Fellow Lars Jan (@larsamerica) of Los Angeles invited Richard Misrach of San Francisco. Lars found Richard’s images undeniably beautiful, yet deeply unsettling, as the landscapes are marked by human presence. Richard’s approach of isolating elements, centering them so they become iconic, projecting out from their environments, resonated with Lars and is reflected in his own work.

See how the artists’ work has influenced one another in this exhibition. “In Company” is on view through December 19. Plan your visit at the link in our bio.

Our cottonwood trees that line Big Red Lane have transformed into vibrant shades of orange and yellow. This time of year may be brief, but it is beautiful. by @ucrossfoundation

European artists, applications are now open for the Transatlantic Rising Stars Project (TRSP)!

Ucross is honored to partner with the European Union to support one of five European visual artists next spring, opening doors to the U.S. cultural landscape and creating opportunities for advancing artistic development, fostering creative exchange, and building mutual success. The application will close once 300 are received or on October 30, whichever comes first.⁣
