POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We are thrilled to share that our Elk Hideaway residence is featured on the cover of Luxe Magazine✨

A nod to traditional mountain style while seamlessly incorporating modern architectural elements. Raw timber posts pair with sleek gunmetal steel in a style that feels both cozy and current—a theme that flows perfectly from the exterior into the home’s refined interior spaces.

As you enter the home, you are welcomed by a foyer that transitions into a great room featuring a custom-designed gunmetal steel fireplace and expansive views of the Coconino Forest.

Multi-layered patio spaces provide unique vantage points to experience the forest, with two floors offering three different patio heights. The forest view from the ground level, while you sit and enjoy the outdoor fireplace, offers a unique perspective compared to the top patios, where you can gaze across the treetops.

What happens when Manhattan sophistication meets the soul of the Sonoran Desert?

I love the unexpected beauty that comes from bringing two very different worlds together.

Our clients came to us from New York, wanting a desert retreat that felt connected to their New York roots while embracing the natural beauty of the Southwest. And I loved that challenge.

We took the drama of Manhattan black and softened it with the warmth of oak, narrow-planked hemlock ceilings, and rugged over-grouted stone walls that feel as though they belong to the desert itself. The kitchen became part of the architecture, with beautifully integrated cabinetry and concealed appliances allowing the natural materials to take center stage.

Throughout the home, we played with that beautiful tension between refined and rustic. Handcrafted pieces sit alongside contemporary Italian furnishings, while rich textures and sculptural forms bring a sense of intimacy to the larger spaces.

I truly believe the most meaningful homes come from listening. To the people, to the architecture, and to the land.

Save this and share it with someone who loves a home with a story to tell.

With natural materials, weathered steel, and quartzite that carries a subtle shimmer, the exterior blends contemporary detailing with the character of the desert landscape. High clerestory windows rise to the roof, bringing in light while shielding interiors from direct sun.

This residence offers a refreshing design take on a contemporary desert home.

The desert mountains surrounding Scottsdale offer some of the most breathtaking building sites in Arizona, along with some of the most demanding.

Whether you’re planning a luxury desert mountain home in Scottsdale or exploring Arizona luxury real estate for your next build, understanding how thoughtful architecture transforms a hillside lot into a refined, livable retreat starts with the site itself.

Here’s how we approach it:

➡️ Understand the Site: A successful hillside home begins long before the first sketch, with a deep understanding of the land itself.

➡️ Find Where Indoors and Outdoors Feel Connected: Luxury indoor outdoor living in Arizona depends on blurring the line between inside and outside. Sliding glass doors open entire walls, letting interior living spaces flow directly onto patios and terraces without a hard architectural stop between them.

➡️ Incorporate Energy Efficiency and Sustainability: Water reclaiming systems, solar panels, passive cooling strategies – these strategies work best when built into the design from the beginning.

“We actually made the house smaller, which is not something we normally do,”says architect Jessica Hutchison-Rough of this Spanish Colonial Arizona abode. The result is a revelation: Interiors amplify its natural connection, with ample plaster and warm neutrals backdropping a deeply personal collection of art and objects.

At the heart of the home, an oversized island serves as its centerpiece, complemented by integrated appliances, a bi-fold window to the outdoor bar, and a stone backsplash that rises behind the range.

The composition reflects the home’s balance of contemporary simplicity and enduring materials, creating a space that feels both elevated and inviting.
