With Ohio releasing its July bar results, we are excited to be 2nd among the law schools in the state in first-time bar taker passage rate! Congratulations to our graduates who passed the bar in Ohio and other bars across the country!

Thanks to our faculty, staff and alumni who helped prepare graduates for the bar exam, especially our Flyer to Esquire program, led by Director Tommy Sangchompuphen and Assistant Director Katie Armstrong, which assists students with their bar prep. #udsl #flyertoesquire #barexam #barprep #lawschool taken in Dayton School of Law by @udaytonlaw

Check out the next in our Dayton Law Journeys series where we talk to graduates about how they’re applying what they learned in law school. In this one see how Taylor Tyler ‘22 is using her J.D. to not only help her clients but also to mentor the next generation of attorneys.

Why did you decide to earn a J.D.?

I wanted a career that would allow me to make a meaningful impact, help people navigate difficult situations, and use my voice to advocate for others. Earning a J.D. offered the opportunity to combine critical thinking, public service, and lifelong learning in a way that appealed to me.

What was your experience like at UDSL?

UDSL challenged me to grow both personally and professionally. As a student in the accelerated Two-Year J.D. program who began law school during the height of the pandemic, I learned how to manage a rigorous workload while developing the practical skills necessary to succeed as an attorney. UDSL helped prepare me to enter practice with confidence.

How has the J.D. helped with your career and what are you doing now?

My J.D. has opened doors to opportunities I never imagined when I started law school. I practice civil litigation, representing clients in personal injury and civil rights matters in both state and federal court. Beyond my practice, I serve on the Board of Governors of the Illinois State Bar Association and as an American Bar Association Young Lawyer Delegate. I also coach mock trial at my former high school and mentor law students and young lawyers, which allows me to give back to the next generation of advocates. #udsl #lawschool #lawstudents #lawgrads #udsljourneys taken in Dayton School of Law by @udaytonlaw

We are proud and excited to share that more than 300 people have now received a pardon through the Ohio Governor's Expedited Pardon Project. 🥳

Those convicted of a criminal offense in Ohio often face lifelong obstacles to housing, jobs, and more. A pardon can help remove those barriers and create a path forward.

This milestone would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of our service providers, who offer free pardon application assistance to eligible clients accepted into the program. Service providers include, DEPC @OhioStateLaw, @AkronLaw, @UDaytonLaw, @CSULAWSchool, @OhioJPC, and @utoledolaw and Toledo Legal Aid at the Public Defender’s Office.

🔗 Learn more about the project at the link in bio.
