🐾 What’s up, Dawgs! My name is Sims Alligood, and I am so excited to officially be one of your newest Digital Dawgs! I’m a rising third-year majoring in Psychology here at the University of Georgia, and my ultimate goal is to become a Clinical Psychologist and work closely with individuals navigating mental health challenges. I’m originally from Dublin, Georgia, and I’m incredibly proud to now call Athens my second home.

🐾 I’m involved in several programs that allow me to support and connect with others in meaningful ways. I volunteer with Casa de Amistad, where I help bridge language and cultural gaps while building relationships within the Athens Latino and Hispanic communities. I also serve as a Dawg Camp Counselor for Discovery, Thrive, and Destination, where I guide incoming students through their transitions to college life. Each Dawg Camp experience gives me the opportunity to pour into students from all backgrounds and help them feel at home before classes even begin. These roles have taught me the value of empathy, leadership, and creating spaces where everyone feels seen and supported.

🐾 Being a Digital Dawg means the world to me because I get to share my UGA journey, highlight the people and places that make this campus so special, and hopefully be someone you can relate to. Whether it’s game days in Sanford, coffee runs at Tate, or just finding the little moments that make college life meaningful—I’m here to capture it all. I can’t wait to take you along for the ride! Hendershot’s is one of Athens’ most beloved community gathering spots—a coffee shop, bar, and live music venue all rolled into one. Located on Prince Avenue, it’s known for its house-roasted coffee, local art, cozy atmosphere, and a diverse lineup of events ranging from jazz jams and open mics to comedy shows and live music. For more than 15 years, it has served as a creative hub where students, artists, musicians, and locals come together. Recently, Hendershot’s announced plans to close, but local owners stepped in to keep the venue open, ensuring that Hendershot’s remains a cornerstone of Athens’ arts and music scene for years to come! by @uga.sims

AthFest is a free three-day festival in downtown Athens that celebrates the city’s music, art, and creative culture. The festival features live performances across multiple outdoor stages, local artists and vendors, KidsFest activities, and late-night music at venues around town through the Club Crawl.
