POSTS STORIES REELS

Alright, alright... We just couldn't resist posting about ACOTAR (A Court of Thorns and Roses), seeing as the latest instalment in the series has just been released. 🎉

If you don't know what all the fuss is about – here we have the awesome Courtney from our Outreach Team with a special Librarian's Choice feature on the book that started it all: "A Court of Thorns and Roses" by Sarah J. Maas

"I might be a little late to the game, having only started reading Sarah J. Maas books recently – but I’m so glad to have finally jumped on the bandwagon! This book, and the series as a whole, was highly (and I can’t stress that word enough) recommended to me, from colleagues to customers to BookTok... I understand the hype now and only wish I read it sooner!" 🤩

"The story centres on Feyre, our human huntress extraordinaire. One day she goes hunting like any other day, but winds up killing something she wasn’t meant to, plunging her into the immortal world of faeries. Separated from her old life and family, she must rely on her handsome captor, Tamlin, and other fae of the Spring Court, to make the most of this new life."

"As she adapts to her new life, she must relearn what she thought she knew of this world and discover secrets to battle the curse on the land. Maybe the beast that captured her is not entirely a beast after all... But does she have it in her heart to see him in another light?" ✨

"This is no classic fairytale (or, if I may, faerytale). Happy endings may not be as happy as they seem. This is only the start of the journey; there is so much greatness to come!"

Are you ready for a fright?
Our teen volunteer, Ishaana, has shared his review of "Five Nights at Freddy's: Fazbear Frights" to get you in the spooky mood 👻

"Five Nights at Freddy's is a great series about horror robot animals." 😱

"There were 3 boys going to explore an abandoned pizza place. They went and checked out the robot animals. As soon as they got close to them, one came to life and attempted to bite the group of boys!" 🍕

"This book was mostly based about horror and showing the causes and effects of exploring unknown places. It was pretty interesting to see what they found out because of all the crazy looking robot animals." 👀

"I would recommend this to someone who likes to read about a mix of horror and adventure. I would give this book a 5/5!" 🏆

Are you ready for a super cosy book recommendation? 🥰 The beaming Jay from our Outreach Team is here to share a quick review of "What You are Looking For is In the Library" by Michiko Aoyama:

"A friend of mine recommended another book by this author when I was looking for something uplifting and hopeful to read. I really enjoyed that book, so I absolutely had to read this one, too – because what kind of librarian would I be if I didn't!" 😉

"Each chapter of this book focuses on a different character. What they all have in common is that they end up at a library with a truly unforgettable librarian. I'll just say that the librarian is either incredibly skilled or a little bit magical... or possibly both."

"The stories are all so cosy and reminded me of how amazing it can feel when you read the right book at the right time of your life. You might be revisiting an old favourite or discovering a new gem that perfectly captures how you're feeling about something in your life. It's that special magic of books." 📚

Hello, classic book lovers – is that you? 👋

Today we have one of our fantastic teen volunteers, Nic, sharing his review of a story that, no matter whether you read it while still at school or later on in life, really stops you in your tracks and makes you reflect for a good, long time.

Here's what Nic says about "Lord of the Flies" by William Golding:

"This is the absolute classic book. A group of English boys crash-land on an island, with no adults in charge. What starts out as a fun adventure soon turns horrid... as the boys go completely savage!" 😱

"The story explores how human nature can quickly turn dark (and murderous), even in our most innocent, the children."

"Personally, I love this book for its keen ability to look deep within what it is to be a human, and for not shying away from asking an incredibly tough question: Do we have actual control over ourselves?"

"If you like peering into the dark corners of human nature, don't mind having a bit of a shock, and most importantly enjoy a good adventure, you will love this book!" ✅

Think this is your sign for a re-read? Or did we maybe convince you to make this your first classic read? Place your reserve anytime online!
