Mastery in Movement
with Raymond Del Barrio @ramondb
Wednesday October 21, 12pm - 1:15pm
UHM Dance Building Studio
Hosted by the DNCE 231/331/431 Contemporary Classes

Workshop:
This class incorporates classic fundamentals in warm up and technique. We explore space and expression while nurturing individualism and awareness. “The shapes are only as dynamic as you are as a person. Breath is the motivator, your humanity is the storyteller.”

About:
Raymond Del Barrio created the musical staging and choreography for the Academy Award Winning “Live Action” Film Short, West Bank Story! As stage director and choreographer for the Legendary Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons , his work performed on Broadway at the Broadway Theater and around the world. He is the director, choreographer, co-producer for the musical Sisterella, written and also co-produced and directed by Larry Hart. Executive Produced and presented by the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, Sisterella received 12 N.A.A.C.P. theater nominations and won eight Awards, including Best Musical, Best Director, Best Musical Staging and Choreography.

As a performer, New York audiences saw Del Barrio performing with Legend Chita Rivera at Carnegie Hall in “Chita:Nowadays” , in her Broadway Birthday performance “A Legendary Celebration” for BC/EFA and in the benefit “A Concert for America” at Townhall. He created the role of Damon Runyon in the Broadway revival of Guys and Dolls and also performed in the Las Vegas production of Jersey Boys. His tours include Chita Rivera: The Dancer’s Life, the 30th-anniversary tour of West Side Story in which he played Chino and Whitney Houston’s Moment of Truth World Tour.
