Good morning, Greyhound community!

Etchings Press has been soliciting submissions for a book of prompts, a teaching tool in memory of our friend and colleague, Kevin McKelvey. Students, faculty, alumni, and community members are all encouraged to share exercises, advice, and guidance inspired by their time with Kevin: poetry and nonfiction, social practice and community building, gardening and nurturing the land.

The student editors in ENGL 479 have been working on this project together, and we have extended our submission deadline to the end of the day, October 15. If you've been waiting, or thought you waited too long, this is your chance: Articulate what you were inspired to do, what you can inspire others to do.

Proceeds from the project will be donated to The Friends of Etchings Press, and used to support student programming. More information and the submission form are available on the Etchings Submittable page: https://etchings.submittable.com/submit/336862/kevin-mckelvey-memorial-prompt-book A memorial graphic featuring a smiling man at the beach. The text above the image reads, "Prompt Book - In Memory of Kevin McKelvey." Below the image, it says, "Deadline Extended: October 15." The background is a dark olive green with elegant serif and script fonts in gold and maroon. by @uindyetchings

We are happy to announce that Prof. Dan Vice and Prof. Rebecca McKanna are taking on the roles of Advisor for Etchings Press. Prof. Vice will be working with students in ENGL 379 and ENGL 479 during fall semesters to produce the Etchings Magazine and run the book prizes. Prof. McKanna will work with students during winter terms to produce the magazine and run the Whirling Prize. A welcome poster for new academic advisors. The top of the image says “WELCOME” with a crown and star doodles. On the left is a photo of a smiling man with curly hair and glasses labeled “Prof. Dan Vice – Fall Semester.” On the right is a photo of a woman with blonde hair sitting at a table, labeled “Prof. Rebecca McKanna – Winter Semester.” At the bottom, it reads “new advisors!!” with decorative underlines and exclamation marks. The background includes artistic patterns in earthy tones. by @uindyetchings
