Join Umu Igbo Unite Houston, in partnership with The Ruby Ball Foundation, for an important conversation on navigating sickle cell in the Igbo community.
Together, we’ll explore how culture, community, media, and misinformation shape the understanding of sickle cell disease and trait—and how we can replace stigma with knowledge, support, and advocacy.

Susan N. Nwokedi is an award-winning filmmaker, actor, educator, and author with over 20 years of leadership experience across both the classroom and the film industry. She is the owner of Children Come Click Education, LLC., and TopLine Productions, through which she has produced international films in the U.S. and Nigeria. An accomplished instructional leader and public speaking coach, Susan is also the author of the 5-star-reviewed book Oma and The Prince, a classroom favorite African fairy tale focused on youth empowerment. Susan holds degrees in Theatre from the University of Houston, Film and Education Media Design from Full Sail University, and a Master's in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of St. Thomas.

Babatunde Ogunseinde is a multidisciplinary creative, educator, and project manager whose work sits at the intersection of music, culture, and community engagement. With over a decade of experience, he has led and delivered dynamic arts and cultural projects that bring people together through immersive experiences. As a musician and bandleader, he is known for blending Afro-fusion, soul, and storytelling to create performances that are both vibrant and meaningful.

In his role as a project manager, Babatunde has successfully curated and executed live events, concerts, and community-based programs, overseeing everything from concept development to production and audience engagement. As an educator, he is passionate about using music and the arts as tools for learning, cultural exchange, and personal growth. His work is driven by a commitment to creativity, collaboration, and celebrating the richness of African and diasporic culture.

Keirra Ewah-Washington, a storyteller shaped by my African American and Nigerian roots. My passion for storytelling began at age 12 when I watched *Slumdog Millionaire*—a film that completely shifted my perspective and set me on the path to filmmaking. At 22, I produced *Elephant!*, a 3-year film project that was selected fo by @uiuhouston
