Flying into deteriorating weather is a leading cause of general aviation accidents, and it can happen faster than you think🛩️

Encountering unexpected conditions can quickly lead to loss of control or impact with the ground, with devastating consequences.

Our Safety Sense Leaflet gives pilots practical guidance on planning flights around the weather and making the right decisions when conditions change.

Today is World Mental Health Day 💜

For many years, we at the CAA have marked this day as a moment to pause and reflect on our wellbeing and our experiences at work.

Mental health matters, every day. That's why we're committed to keeping the conversation open, breaking down stigma, and making sure everyone in our organisation knows where to turn for support.

If you, or someone you know, could use some support, Mind has some excellent resources. Visit the Mind website to find out more: https://www.mind.org.uk/

And remember: a simple "how are you, really?" to a colleague or a friend can make a bigger difference than you might think. Vibrant orange and pink sunset over the London skyline with the Shard and River Thames visible. by @uk.caa

Air travel is bouncing back and passengers are happier flying from England's airports.

Our 2025 passenger survey, based on interviews with 175,000 people at eight of England's busiest airports, found that nearly 225 million passengers travelled through them this year, up 2% on 2024.

Satisfaction scores have also risen, and more passengers than ever are choosing public transport to get to and from the airport.

Always keep your power banks and vapes with you onboard the aircraft.

Never pack them in your checked luggage; they can overheat and cause a fire.

Always check with your airline. by @uk.caa

It's Girls in Aviation Day! ✈️

We caught up with women from @theplanespottingclub to ask one simple question: what advice would you give your younger self?

Their answers were honest, inspiring, and a brilliant reminder of why representation matters.

The future of aviation and aerospace depends on fresh talent, new ideas, and different perspectives, and that starts with encouraging the next generation of women into our industry. by @uk.caa

Our STEM Team is proud to be supporting the @kingstrust Million Makers, marking its 20th anniversary alongside the King's Trust's 50th anniversary, through a unique fundraising challenge this autumn.

On 8 October 2026, teams from across the aviation sector will come together at Oxford Airport for "Pulling a Plane for a Purpose". The challenge: pull a 20 to 40 tonne aircraft over 60 metres as quickly as possible.

It's a fun way to celebrate and strengthen collaboration across the aviation sector, while raising awareness of the industry's impact, opportunities and contribution to society.

Fancy supporting the challenge? Further information via our STEM website, link in bio. White and blue running shoes placed on an airport runway with a private jet and sunset in the background. by @uk.caa

Weight and balance isn't just a pre-flight checkbox. Getting it wrong can be fatal.

Overloading your aircraft or flying outside your centre of gravity envelope puts you, your passengers and others at serious risk. Every flight, know your limits before you leave the ground.

Our Safety Sense Leaflet on Weight, Balance and Performance has everything you need.

Laser attacks on air ambulance helicopters put patients, crew and pilots at serious risk, and they're getting worse.

There were 94 attacks recorded in 2025. In just the first half of 2026, that figure has already reached 35.

We're joining @airambulances to call for these potentially catastrophic attacks to stop.
