This was a standout moment for me back at @torstrophy a few months ago, not the race overall but just the little moment. At the start of the day I told myself to just try keep up with @drescher_ocr as he was in each of my waves. On the North Pole rig, I fumbled transitioning under the cargo net and I began to see myself falling behind. I knew I had to commit and go for a big move to keep up, which fortunately landed and bought me back some time. I was now in the lead, which I did not expect, and took me by surprise. I could feel both Jonas and @holasek_ocr right behind so I had to just go with it.

The Swift Half Podcast, Episode 291

Alan and Ian are joined by Sharon Newton to talk about her recent experience at Tough Mudder London South and, most importantly, the very special memorial wave held in honour of her late partner, Leon Hardwick.

Sharon takes us behind the scenes of the event, from the changes to the Tough Mudder course to the atmosphere of the memorial wave, which brought together friends, former solo mudders and members of the OCR community to celebrate Leon’s life. With inflatables, Jägerbombs and plenty of memories along the way, it was a fitting tribute to someone who clearly made a lasting impression on those around him.

The guys also discuss the fundraising effort in Leon’s memory, supporting prostate cancer research through a JustGiving page which had already raised £4,334.

Away from Tough Mudder, Alan and Ian catch up on the latest happenings across the OCR and fitness world, including Spartan event updates, HYROX’s new clothing rules for Elite 15 athletes, and plenty of other racing news and talking points.

Epic race and finish to be involved in @bornsurvivoruk last weekend

Sat in 3rd for most of the race trying to not let the gap increase to Morgan @morganwmaxwell and Dan @danieltitcomb95

With around 3k to go I managed to pass Mo and just kept telling myself just keep eyes on Dan, don’t look back. Didn’t expect to be then drawing alongside Dan and fighting for 1st.

Last hill, Dan showed his running ability and pulled away slightly and I thought 2nd was going to be the result only to see him slip on the wet ramp wall.

As video shows the finish was as close as you could get and could have gone either way

Delighted to have been given 1st and proud to have battled the whole way to be in a position to take that opportunity

Congrats to Georgina and Susan @jarman_racers for hitting the podium in the women’s race and to all the FBF team for grind out some great results in tough conditions 💚🖤

Next up is the Great Scottish Run Half Marathon as a marker to see where my running is at then @thestormrace to round off the season as the final race in the @uk.ocr series by @uk.ocr
