I am currently in production of making 7 more cameras. Fortunately I have been busy shooting a TV series but at the same time production of these cameras has slowed down a bit. I have not taken any pre orders or anyone’s money for this exact reason. There is a plan for the future to team up with a company for the production of these cameras which I will announce very soon. In the meantime here’s a little preview of the tap… Also I will be posting a music video I have shot with the camera when it’s released…. Yes you can look through tap and optical viewfinder at the same time. taken in London, United Kingdom by @uk4camera

This is the first aluminium prototype of the UK4. I just received all of the parts and I’m actually not quite done assembling it but I thought I’d put a little teaser Video out. The parts came back way lighter than I had anticipated so this thing is probably going to be somewhere near the weight of the 3-D printed version which a very light weight already. I’m on a shoot for the next week or so and will continue the assembly and test shoot sometime next week. taken in London, United Kingdom by @uk4camera

As promised, this is the test footage that @shyampateldop and I shot just over a week ago. I’m sorry it’s not very exciting, but this is just the first short end we ran through the camera just to make sure it worked. This is the first footage out of the camera with the 3-D printed parts. I think it’s off to a good start. I’m going to make some minor adjustments as I should be receiving the first batch of CNC parts THIS week and will do another test. Everything was shot at 24fps and the last shot at 50fps. Thank you @kodak_shootfilm and @digital_orchard for being so supportive with this project. taken in London, United Kingdom by @uk4camera

Thank you for all the new followers and Dm‘s. I’m sorry if I haven’t followed you back or written you back, it’s been a busy few days. I’ll try my best to catch up. I’ve had three main questions in my inbox. First is when the Camera will be available to buy. I should have a handful of them ready to buy in August another handful November/December. I don’t know the price point yet because I’m still waiting to have some of the high tolerance CNC parts manufactured and I don’t know how much they’re going to cost yet… Yes, you can use the video tap and look through the viewfinder simultaneously. Thank you guys for the love and support - @mikemcmillin_dp by @uk4camera

Getting ready to test this 3-D printed prototype with @shyampateldop This is obviously all still very early. The final cameras will not be 3d printed…. This prototype is for testing that everything works before designs go off to CNC. Aapo Lettenin is now making the motors for me. I had originally made my own motor but it was not Crystal sync and Appo is much more talented than I am when it comes to electrical engineering. The video tap on here is also just a prototype. My plans for the final version will be much more slim down. @mikemcmillin_dp taken in London, United Kingdom by @uk4camera

I’m very excited to announce the UK4 Ultra 16mm camera. This is the first working prototype 1 to 50 fps 12V DC motor and full 3G-SDI tap (you can use viewfinder and tap simultaneously). New designed Ultra 16 gate. Currently the mount and cheese plates are 3-D printed but they are currently being machined on cnc. I am a mentor for the Film London program and it was discouraging hearing how many of the mentees have never had the opportunity to shoot on Film. Younger directors are so used to looking at a monitor and also having a compact camera so I’m hoping with this project will open some doors for younger directors and cinematographers to have the confidence to embrace the medium if they have not already. I have no affiliation with the creator of the K4 camera from Russia. The project was seemingly abandoned so I thought it would be fun to give it a go. I’ll be doing some tests over the next couple of weeks and working out the kinks and I should have some test models to play around with. I will be posting updates on the project as it goes along with the first test footage. by @uk4camera
