🎉 Big news from BME!

Congratulations to Guoqiang Yu on being inducted into the College of Fellows of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering — one of the highest honors in the field.

This distinction recognizes the top 2% of medical and biological engineers for their contributions to research, innovation, and education. Guoqiang Yu was honored for his work advancing biophotonic technologies and translating them into impactful medical devices.

His research continues to push forward new approaches to monitoring human health and improving clinical care.

Meet Dr. Guoqiang Yu — one of UKY's standout innovators in the F. Joseph Halcomb, III, M.D. Department of Biomedical Engineering.

💡 Using low-cost optical imaging technology, Dr. Yu is transforming how we monitor tissue health — developing tools that give real-time insight into brain, organ, and tissue function without invasive procedures.

🔬 His work has earned him a spot among Elsevier’s top 2% most-cited researchers worldwide, six patents, and recognition as a 2024–25 University Research Professor.

From lab to community — his goal is to bring affordable, accessible healthcare technology to Kentucky and beyond. 🌍
