Why IPL + 3D Miracle Are the Perfect Winter Reset ❄️✨

Winter is the ideal season to rejuvenate, reset, and restore your skin. Cooler weather means less UV exposure, making it the safest and most effective time to treat deeper pigment, redness, and texture changes.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) targets vascular and brown pigment pathways to even tone, lift dullness, and calm redness.
3D Miracle uses advanced fractional energy to remodel texture, smooth fine lines, and stimulate fresh collagen without the downtime of traditional CO₂.

Together they create a powerful synergy:
• IPL clears the canvas
• 3D Miracle refines the canvas
• Your skin emerges brighter, clearer, and dramatically smoother

This combination is one of my favorite winter resets because it treats the “why” behind uneven tone and texture while strengthening the skin for healthier long-term aging. If you’ve been thinking about a refresh, winter is truly the moment.

CO₂ Lift Mask by Lumisque is one of my favorite ways to boost skin quality with zero downtime.

Unlike traditional masks that sit on the surface, this carboxy gel delivers carbon dioxide to the skin, triggering the Bohr effect. That means increased oxygen delivery, improved circulation, enhanced hydration, and visible skin plumping from within.

What patients typically notice:
• Immediate glow and smoother texture• Reduced fine lines and crepiness• Calmer, more hydrated skin• Brighter, more even tone• A subtle lifting effect

I use this before events, after travel, and as part of recovery following procedures when appropriate. It’s especially helpful for dull, dehydrated, or stressed skin that needs a rapid reset.
Think of it as oxygen therapy for your face: clinically elegant, noninvasive, and effective.

You can learn technique almost anywhere. Watching two experienced practitioners decide what to do for the same patient, out loud, is much harder to find.

The Split Decisions Symposium puts you in the room for it. David Weir, MSN, APRN, NP-C, and Jen Pilotte, MSN, AGACNP-C, CANS, consult one patient together in real time. Then each injects their own model live.

Best of all, it’s product agnostic. Each will work from their own preferred products across multiple brands, not one sponsored line.

What you walk out with:

💉A decision framework for moving a patient from consult to protocol, built from watching two providers reason through it live
💉A side-by-side look at how two different product portfolios and techniques handle the same case
💉A sharper sense of where your own consult questions and decision points could tighten
💉4-CME credits for the day

Sunday, November 15th | 11:30am - 3:30pm | @thompsonhoteldallas

CME days like this can run $2,000+. We believe education should be accessible for everyone. Discounts available for Scale Society members and even better ones for Moxie-supported practices🤍

Seats are limited to keep live injections up close - register at the link in our bio 🔗

When it comes to hair restoration, the goal isn't simply more hair. It's understanding why hair loss is happening in the first place.

Hair thinning can have several contributing factors, from genetics and hormonal changes to inflammation and underlying medical conditions. And not every type of hair loss responds to the same treatment.

That's why a thorough assessment matters. Hair density, scalp health, follicular activity, and the pattern of hair loss all play a role in determining the appropriate approach.

These before-and-after photos show a visible improvement, but what matters just as much is the clinical decision-making behind the treatment.

Because successful hair restoration starts with the right diagnosis, not just the procedure.

Some aesthetic treatments are designed to create an immediate change. Others rely on biology that takes time.

With hyperdilute CaHA, the goal isn't simply to add volume. At appropriate dilutions, CaHA microspheres act as a biostimulatory scaffold, supporting neocollagenesis and elastogenesis within the tissue.

And that process is gradual.

Appreciable collagen formation begins around 4–6 weeks, which helps explain why changes in skin quality may become more noticeable weeks after treatment rather than immediately.

Over time, that remodeling can contribute to improvements in dermal thickness, elasticity, and pliability.

So when we talk about results developing gradually, there’s biology behind that timeline.

Want to read the research behind this? Comment CAHA and we’ll send you the link.

RISE Summit, year ✌🏼

Last year I sat in the audience watching Dr. Cheryl bring RISE to life. This year I got to be one tiny part of the network helping her vision happen behind the scenes.

And RISE itself grew too.

Two condensed days. Two tracks, business + clinical. Day two broke into six clinical stations, which might have been my favorite part because we got completely different perspectives on the same field.

Dr. Kate Goldie brought a global perspective + her traceless approach to aesthetics, including conversations around perception drift and how our visual diet can change what we start to perceive as “normal.”

Jackie brought ultrasound + sonography-guided injections.

Dr. David Saadat had a cadaver specimen right beside us, connecting what we do above the skin to what is actually happening underneath.

David Weir focused on tox + current research. I ALWAYS take something home from him.

Shannan shared her PRF techniques. I don’t currently offer PRF, but I still want to understand it. I don’t have to offer every modality to learn from it or have an educated perspective on where it may or may not fit.

That’s probably one of my biggest takeaways from RISE.

This field changes.. We ask more questions. Research changes. Our understanding of anatomy, products, aging, safety, regenerative medicine and even what we perceive as “beautiful” changes.

So I should too.

Continuing education isn’t collecting certificates for me. It’s making sure the version of me treating someone today knows more than the version of me who treated someone a year ago.

I never want to become so comfortable in what I know that I stop being curious about what I don’t.

And getting to support ✨ Cheryl this year was really special. My role was small, and I mean that sincerely. It takes a whole lot of grains of sand to make a beach. I was just happy to be one of them.

Community + collaboration + curiosity.

My cup is full. My brain is fuller. And I’m already excited to see what we know differently by next year💕 by @ultimateskinsource

A tired-looking face isn’t always a skin concern.

Skin quality matters, but shadows, hollows, and changes in facial contour can also reflect what’s happening beneath it. Facial fat and bone provide structure, and changes across these layers can affect how the face looks over time.

That’s why two people who both say “I look tired” may need very different assessments. One may be noticing a change in skin texture; another may be seeing a change in contour. The first step is understanding what’s creating that appearance before discussing any treatment.

When a patient says they look tired, what do you look at first? taken in Ultimateskinsource by @ultimateskinsource

"No complications” sounds reassuring. But preparedness tells me far more about a provider’s experience.

Aesthetic medicine involves real anatomy, real risk, and sometimes unpredictable responses. Even with thoughtful technique and appropriate patient selection, complications can still occur.

The standard shouldn’t be pretending risk doesn’t exist.

It should be knowing how to recognize a complication early, having the appropriate protocols and resources in place, and being prepared to act when every minute matters.

Beautiful outcomes are part of the job. So is being ready when things don’t go according to plan.

For providers: What does being truly prepared for complications look like in your practice?

A cheek can look different at rest and during a smile. That’s partly because the midface’s superficial fat compartments move, while its deeper compartments are relatively stable.

In a midface anatomical study, the properties of the HA filler and the plane where it was placed affected cheek projection during a simulated smile. It’s a useful reminder to assess facial movement when planning treatment.

Want to read the paper? Comment SMILE and we’ll send it to you.
