And it’s a little art are just trading cards and bookmarks to little free libraries in my community. I’d love to see more people create, trade, and give art. I hope to be more whimsical, magical and kind. There’s so much art to give and art to express. I would love all of us to create art as often as we read.

As a disabled artist, I have to think of my art setup when I’m on location doing Plien air or urban sketching. How will I be sitting, how will I do the art and for how long.

I also have to consider if there are bathrooms near by and paths to move my rolling cart although it has good wheels so it can handle rugged terrain.

My rolling adaptive cart has a sturdy camping chair, folding table, and my art supplies. I also use the cart to grab my art supplies so I’m not getting stuff from the ground and I can place a ‘lid’ cardboard or plastic on top of the cart to make more table space.

I have been able to do with less. Stand and sketch, sit on a camping stool and sketch, use pencils vs any water based media, smaller sketchbooks….. however when I get home I have less energy and more pain. Both things that make it harder to do household chores, socialize, self care and bring my quality of life lower or unsustainable. Is it worth it? I don’t have the same amount of energy in the same 24 h in a day as others. I work with truth and manage. Saving energy with my adaptive art studio allows me to show up better in my life elsewhere.

Urban sketching outside at the coronation of the SFU graduates in beautiful British Columbia on top of the mountain it was so sunny but cold and windy and while we were waiting for the graduates to come down the many many many stairs, we had the amazing performance from the SFU pipe band who have won multiple awards they are they sound great and I love the bagpipes it was just made the mood and everything perfect. It was also wonderful showcase of indigenous leaders and presidents and other very wonderful, educated esteemed individuals from SFU, providing wisdom and guidance and love and joy it’s amazing time to celebrate those who have made the huge commitment to their education and have put themselves through the rigger and toil of doing a doctorate PhD a masters or bachelors I applaud all of them. They are wonderful and I was grateful to see this event and to have a chance to draw try to sketch all these wonderful beautiful people in amazing robes and outfits and yeah, thank you all and I hope you guys enjoy this.

Enjoyed sketching in the park on a beautiful Saturday with this urban Skechers Vancouver event outside of Shadbolt centre in deer Lake Park. It was amazing. They were two instructors. I followed along with Broderick to learn from his wisdom of plain air experience, he has great insights and tips, was patient and thoughtful. Learned about laying down watercolours and brushes to use!
Check out his work broderickwong

Enjoyed sketching in the park on a beautiful Saturday with this Urban Skechers Vancouver event outside of Shadbolt centre in Deer Lake Park. It was amazing. They were two instructors. I followed along with Ian to learn from his wisdom of plain air experience, both in Canada and abroad and from his amazing instructional experience,
he was so full of insights and tips and was funny, patient, kind and generous with all his knowledge and letting us see how he created a work and how to find a site and how to make your art your own.
Check him out @iandehoogart
And come out to events held for free and organized by @usk.vancouver

The prompt was to create a map of your childhood.
I Chose memories of the snow, mount Elizabeth, playing street hockey in snow pants and jacket. There is so much more and still not everything. Memory is funny. Need to do more and see what comes up for me.

I love art events, and getting artists together and I’m so happy that urban sketchers has a Vancouver branch and that they do these events all over the lower mainland and are such such wonderful people and I have improved my skills by going out and painting from real life and from seeing and learning from the work of other artist in the community and it’s so low no pressure basically you do not need to call yourself an artist or have work exhibited anywhere you just come and you participate and we share, and there was no judgement on any skilled level or any name recognition it’s just all about the work and hanging out and getting better at your craft

I was so pleasantly surprised last week when my friend and fellow artist, @uma_sharda, came over to co-work and brought along a portrait gift for me! Funny thing was, I had her portrait ready to gift too! We had a lovely little exchange before sharing some creative space. I really love the way Uma captured my hair and eyes. I feel very, very seen by this impression of me. 🥰🥰🥰 by @uma_sharda

💔💐 I really didn’t think she would never not be around. She truly was a shield of hope and hero for millions. Had little, got a lot and gave more. Rest in peace. 🌸 by @uma_sharda
