⚡️ Meet the Jury of #RomePhotoLab 2026 📸 Discover the eyes shaping this year’s vision. Serkan Tekin (@umagumag) is a street photographer based in Istanbul, Turkey, who approaches the city’s streets as his personal playground. Born in Ankara, he spends all his free time exploring Istanbul aiming to create art from its streets and squares. Driven by a love for humor, comics, and the absurd, his work focuses on capturing the funny and surreal moments of everyday life. He transforms mundane scenes into witty frames by concentrating on geometry, coincidences and uxtapositions. He sees street photography as his most valuable way of expressing his perspective, observing reality through the lens of humor. Tekin’s goal is to find joy in the ordinary and unexpected, inviting viewers to appreciate the lighter side of life hidden within daily routines. 👉 Serkan will serve as a preliminary jury member for the “Streets of the World” category alongside Gwen Julia (Street Avengers), Alonso Diaz de Anda (Postal 5.6), Citlali Medal (Founder of MX Street Photo Fest / Street Photography Brazil) and Catherine Auzuret (Street Badass). 🔴 Submissions are OPEN for RomePhotoLab 2026 – Rome International Street Photography Contest! For street photographer Serkan Tekin, PROVIA represents a balance of colours that are not loud; soft, natural and cinematic. His personal PROVIA settings, which slightly reduce saturation and emphasise textures, lend the frames a timeless, documentary-like tranquillity. The humour, coincidences and reflections of Istanbul also become part of this quiet narrative. #filmsimulation #fujifilmXT50 #FS_Recipe #PROVIA #vividmemories by @umagumag

📅 18 Ekim 2026, Pazar 📍 Sirkeci – Beyazıt – Şişhane 🔗 photomaraton.com @umagumag #PhotoMaraton26 #PhotoMaratonİstanbul by @umagumag
In a world saturated with exaggerated images, muted colors and soft transitions bring a sense of calm and timelessness 📸 Photographer Serkan Tekin (@umagumag) uses Fujifilm's PROVIA as a quiet yet powerful companion for his street photography, capturing humor, absurdity, and rhythm in everyday urban scenes. His recipe keeps things restrained: TONE CURVE at H -1, S +1 for balanced contrast, COLOR at -1 to steer away from digital harshness, SHARPNESS at +1 for clarity, and all chrome effects turned off to let the composition speak. PROVIA is Fujifilm's standard Film Simulation, known for natural, slightly muted colors and soft tonal transitions. It presents things as they are, with a distinct presence that never overwhelms the scene. In Serkan's hands, stone textures, reflective glass, and weathered walls appear balanced and visually compelling, with the focus always on storytelling and composition. No excess, no gimmicks. Just an aesthetic dialogue between photographer and street, where a forgotten object in a corner becomes its own quiet narrative. 📍 Turkey 📷 Fujifilm X Series 🎞️ PROVIA Recipe Inspired by this look? . . . Street photography often relies on quick instincts, but Serkan Tekin’s work invites us to slow down and solve a puzzle. Feeding on the raw noise and clutter of the city, his frames act as visual riddles that make you look closer, piecing together the unexpected connections within the chaos. For him, it isn’t just about recording a fleeting second—it’s about crafting a subtle puzzle for the viewer to decode. What do you think about these frames? Photographer: @umagumag .
