She did it again… twice!

Less than a month after setting another personal best and school record in the 50 free, @ellahowe_ continued to add to her legacy!

She broke her own school record in the prelims at nationals in 25.19 and lowered that even further in the final at 25.17, finishing fourth in the nation!

The Bisons have hit the pool in Markham for swimming nationals!

Lots of highlights on day one, including Ella Howe and Tam Doan reaching finals. Ella did so in the 200 freestyle, while Tam thrilled the crowd with a three-way swim-off win in the 100m breaststroke!

TY UNRAU
USPORTS DAY 1…

Ty is a third year from Winnipeg, Manitoba and our resident super sprint king. You can always count on Ty to show up for the morning swims, but you might not catch him at too many of the afternoon ones, that’s when the real gains are made in the gym. When he’s not racing or throwing heavy weights around like it’s no one’s business, Ty is studying Arts with hopes of one day becoming a police officer or joining the military. (Hes already got the buzz cut to show) And if you really know Ty, you know he’s always down for a good schnitzel and a solid pair of lederhosen. 🇩🇪🤎 by @umbisonsswimming

TAM DOAN
1 day until USPORTS…

Next up we have TAM!! Tam is in his second year on the team, and is one of our breastrokers competing at Usports. If you were to describe Tam you’d probably use words such as chill, sly or nonchalant. Tam is always in his groove, wether that’s in the gym pumping weights or showing up to the function stylin and ready to party. Tam is a silent and resilient worker, someone who stays in his lane and gets the job done. You’ll never hear Tam complaining about the set and when things get hard he’ll power through with a smile. Outside the pool, Tam is working towards his supply chain degree while attending Asper School of Business at UofM, a fun fact about Tam is that anything blueberry flavoured WILL make him throw up… so hide your blueberries! 🫐😂🤘 by @umbisonsswimming

HARLEM LAU
1 day until USPORTS…

Introducing our next rookie, Harlem! Harlem is our backstroke pipsqueak who’s almost always having a great time…except mid-set, when you might hear some very interesting words of “self-motivation.” If you’re looking for Harlem around the university, he’s probably in the back of HTPC watching Smallville, eating grapes, and somehow squatting on a chair. Some of Harlem’s highlights this year include powering through his very first Microeconomics exam, munching on onigiri, and bribing the older girls to set him up with ladies at USPORTS using his mom’s mochi. (Stay tuned for his success.) clock itttt 🤏🤏 by @umbisonsswimming

JEROME TIMPUG
2 days until USPORTS…

Next up we have Jerome!
A rookie competing in his first U SPORTS Championships, Jerome is proudly representing the Bisons from his hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba. As one of our fast breaststroke sprinters, Jerome is also one of our best divers and is consistently being asked how his dives are so speedy. In his first season with the team, Jerome has shown that he’s willing to put in the work day in and day out to keep improving and pushing himself in the pool. Outside of swimming, Jerome is studying in University 1, working at Supplement World, and making sure to keep Winnipeg’s bánh mì spots in business whenever he gets the chance. 🤎💛 by @umbisonsswimming

ELLA HOWE
2 days until USPORTS…

Ella is our fourth year captain from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan who competes in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle. She loves the sport of swimming and knows how to have fun while working hard. When she’s not racing or powering through practice, Ella is studying Economics, where she can break down supply and demand like nobody’s business. Ella is the kind of teammate you can always count on to lifting up those around her. You’ll likely find Ella in the gym throwing weight around, rocking a matching Lululemon set, listening to house music, and exchanging quick, witty remarks with her teammates. 🫰🏼💌 by @umbisonsswimming

SHEA GUEST!
3 days until USPORTS…

Introducing Shea guest! Shea is one of our fourth year ladies from good ol Saskatoon! Shea is a backstroke specialist from the 50 to the 200, some may even say the 200 is Shea’s favourite event! Shea is a hard worker inside and out of the pool and loves to joke around between sets with the team (specifically trolling Harlem). Shea is studying kinesiology so if you ever need help with anatomy, she’s your girl. When Shea isn’t at the pool, you’ll probably catch her yapping with Adam Stevenson or in the back of HTPC keeping the rookies in check. Catch Shea ripping it up in Markham! (And at the usports AP) 👀🤎💛 by @umbisonsswimming

ANNABEL KOLMAN!
3 days until Usport Nationals…

Next up we have Annie! Annie is a rookie at her very first U SPORTS Championships and our first year mid distance fly queen, coming all the way from Regina, Saskatchewan. She might be one of the quieter ones on the team, but don’t let that fool you as Annie brings serious grit and determination to the pool. 200 fly sets? No problem for her. Annie is an incredibly hard worker in and out of the water, and when she’s not crushing practices, she’s working toward becoming a future corporate powerhouse while studying business at the Asper School of Business. 🤎💛 by @umbisonsswimming
