We typically extend an offer to LSBE clubs to take individual "LinkedIn-esque" photos 📸 of club members...

...which oftentimes leads to us taking a group photo of the ENTIRE club or just club leadership.

Then we steal the group photos or leadership photos and post them to our socials.

Mostly to brag about them.

Anyway, HERE we have a photo of Student Healthcare Management Association (SHMA) leadership, which includes President Ashley Romanchuk, Secretary Iiman Hersi, Treasurer Ireland Johnson, and Marketing Director Elizabeth Hare.

NOT shown is VP Clara Stinson, who was probably doing MBA stuff at the time. That's PURELY SPECULATION. (She's in the 4+1 MBA program. Ahem.)

Anyway, 🙌 to @shma_umdduluth taken in Labovitz School of Business and Economics, UMD by @umdlabovitz

OKAY, so for Dr. Matt Lunde's "Social Media Marketing" class, he asked his students to make 8 different social media videos...

...that would "sell" UMD and LSBE to potential new students.

We're going to post a new one every Tuesday for 8 weeks, beginning on October 6th.

We can't WAIT for you to see their work. Good. Stuff.

Stay tuned!! 🎥 taken in Labovitz School of Business and Economics, UMD by @umdlabovitz

Mitchell Erickson, a management and finance major at the University of Minnesota Duluth, turned a networking opportunity into an impactful summer internship at Marvin. Working with fellow interns, he co-developed an AI-driven tool built to help Marvin’s customer service department navigate internal documentation more efficiently. On track to complete his undergraduate degrees in just three years and transition into UMD’s 4+1 Integrated MBA program, Erickson credits active involvement in campus organizations and UMD's networking culture for fueling his academic and professional success.

As far as clubs go here in our business school, we're pretty sure @duluthwomeninbusiness is one of our largest and most engaged.

And that's saying a LOT because we have a lot of amazing clubs here in Labovitz.

ANYWAY, we thought we thought we'd shown you a few fun photos of the WIB officers Sammy Solberg, Elaine Mei, Kaylee Swenson, Sofie Anderson, and Teresa Rotondo working hard in the club room and then getting a formal photo on the 3rd floor.

Proud to have the entire group of Women in Business representing LSBE and UMD like the amazing people they are! Go WIB! taken in Labovitz School of Business and Economics, UMD by @umdlabovitz

We're big fans; no...HUGE fans of when UMD LSBE alumni come back to talk to our students about what they're up to.

Today, Louise Scharin (Consumer Insights & Analytics, Marketing '26), Daria Weinzierl (Consumer Insights & Analytics, Marketing '22), and Maddie Hoepner (Consumer Insights & Analytics '26) stopped by to chat about their experiences working at 3M (all current 3M employees in analytics!) with the @umd.cia cohorts!

With them is fellow standout LSBE alumna Sophie Scharin. Sophie is is an LSBE Financial Markets program grad ('22!) and current Senior Associate - Technology Risk Consulting for RSM, and not here to speak to CIA students.

She's here more for the "I drove my younger sister Louise up to Duluth" reason. 🙃

Wonderful to see all of you, and thank you for coming back to see us and showing current students how Labovitz grads make things happen. #umdPROUD #proudtobeLSBE taken in Labovitz School of Business and Economics, UMD by @umdlabovitz

These students (and Dean Praveen Aggarwal in the middle!) make up the UMD Labovitz School's Student Advisory Council. They're Dr. Aggarwal's eyes and ears when it comes to student issues, improvements, ideas, and much MUCH more. He meets with this council of students from all business majors to gauge how things are going, and they're CRUCIAL to making meaningful change in LSBE that best serves our students. We're lucky to have such a wonderful group year after year, and we'd like to introduce you you this year's Council: Amelia Chelgren, Amal Mohamed, Aidan Thornton, Annika Wolters, Aric Randolph, Savan Sant, Noah Mecklin, and Court Bragg!👏👏 taken in Labovitz School of Business and Economics, UMD by @umdlabovitz

When people first meet Dan Fishback without knowing anything about him, they would easily think "Great guy. Reminds me of someone I know. He'd fit right in with us on our annual friends fishing trip."

Well, he actually IS the guy who'd fit right in on the fishing trip...but also what they might not know is that Dan is actually a (now-retired!) long-time NATIONAL leader in retail and consumer analytics...

...who led several companies in Silicon Valley and otherwise - and most notably, DemandTec, Inc. - to *major* success.

(He's also a UMD grad 🐾 business school/LSBE ‘83!)

So, we mentioned ALL of this last year, and we'll CONTINUE to mention it every year that he and his wife LB travel to Minnesota to visit the students of our UMD LSBE Consumer Insights & Analytics Program.

For background: Dan literally founded the CIA program in 2011 - then known as Retail Marketing & Analytics or ReMAP - all because he saw a market need, wanted to give back, and be part of the solution.

Today and for the past several years Dan and LB provide each CIA student with a nice scholarship via the Fishback Family Foundation. The scholarship helps students by offsetting the cost of landing an internship in a new city, provide new data software, and more.

So when the Fishbacks once again visited with LSBE's senior and junior CIA cohorts this year (with CIA program director Steve Sharkey)...

....Dan and LB asked these CIA students about their 2026 summer internships, their future plans, all of it. They listened with such genuine, intent interest and pride, it was amazing.

(Check out the accompanying photos. Dan and LB absolutely LOVE meeting with the CIA students, hearing about their internship experiences, and vice versa.)

And the students were thrilled to tell them about what they accomplished...and what the Fishbacks' scholarship donations meant to their professional development.

Huge thanks to the Dan and LB Fishback for being here and AGAIN being so wonderful to our students, and thanks to our CIA students for making us proud, as usual.

Great stuff. taken in Labovitz School of Business and Economics, UMD by @umdlabovitz
