Weather delays don't just disrupt airline travel for passengers, they increase fuel use, airline costs and congestion throughout the nation's airspace. Unlike cars, aircraft cannot simply pull over and wait for conditions to improve. To address this challenge, U-M Aerospace Engineering Professors Max Li and Jean-Baptiste Jeannin, along with aerospace engineering students and industry partner PACE America, are working to optimize aircraft arrival flow operations across the U.S. National Airspace System (NAS). Through funding from the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Fueling Aviation’s Sustainable Transition (FAST) Grant Program, the research team is developing decision-support tools to help aircraft navigate congested terminal airspace more safely, reducing delays and fuel consumption.Learn more by visiting our bio! 🔗 #UMichAero #MichiganAero #GoBlue by @umichaero
