Soooooo we’ve got news for you all… you’re being watched.

As we’ve previously said, Oxford uses Flock surveillance cameras along our streets to monitor traffic and track vehicles. That means for ALL 150,000+ people in Oxford this weekend (according to average visitor data from 2025), you’re being watched by a private network of surveillance cameras.

Sign our petition in our bio to tell Oxford to GET THE FLOCK OUT.

To our parents, welcome to our little snowglobe town! Make sure YOU know where our Flock cameras are at the link in our bio.

Stay safe, Hotty Toddy, and Beat Mizzou! 💙❤️💙 by @umissdems

SEND THEM TO OFFICE!

If you’re not sure who to vote for in this election, we’ve got your back. You can learn ALL ABOUT your candidates in local, state, and national elections at our BALLOT PARTY on Wednesday!

We’ll have free food + drink served, as well as a few surprises planned, so come on out!

DEFLOCK UPDATE: How to Report Flock Cameras

Through the Deflock app (deflock.org), you can report Flock cameras to a national database, as well as view every reported Flock camera nationally. So far, there are over 140,000 Flock cameras according to this database.

An OpenStreetMap account is required in order to report them, but it’s easy to create one in the app. After creating one, you can report a camera’s location, direction, and mount type (pole, street lamp, etc.).

Also, be sure to sign our petition. So far, we’ve got over 900 signatures — only 36% of our goal of 2,500 — so ensure to tell your friends around the city about it, too!

DE-FLOCK OX! by @umissdems

OUR ENDORSEMENTS ARE...

FOR MS-1, U.S. HOUSE: Cliff Johnson, the Director of the MacArthur Center for Justice & Clinical Professor of Law at the University of Mississippi School of Law

FOR U.S. SENATE, Junior Seat: Scott Colom, the District Attorney for Mississippi’s 16th Judicial District, covering Clay, Lowndes, Noxubee, and Oktibbeha Counties

Alongside these endorsements, we’re also in need of your help, for canvassing and phonebanking!

Each Sunday until Election Day, we’re canvassing for Cliff and Scott around Oxford, and we need volunteers! If you’d like to help, meet us each Sunday at 11AM in the 2nd floor of the Student Union (the area with all the chairs and the big windows).

We’re phonebanking for Cliff and Scott, as well as (as chosen by you) JAMES TALARICO on Election Day! Swing by in between classes on November 3rd from 10AM to 5PM in Student Union 325 and call voters around Mississippi and Texas to get out the vote!

No experience is required to canvass or phonebank — we can teach you what you need to know. by @umissdems

THANK YOU ALL FOR COMING ON FRIDAY! You all, both students and members of the Lafayette-Oxford-University community, showed us on Friday that YES, we CAN in fact make Mississippi a purple state.

You showed us your energy, enthusiasm, and motivation to make Mississippi a better place for our students and our people.

Thank you to our esteemed guest speakers, @cristenhemmins from @lafayettecodems, @crosbyfor22, @taylorcheikh, and our candidates for office @cliffjohnsonforcongress and @scott_colom. Your determination to make this event what it was does not go unappreciated, and we are elated to work with you in the future.

Stay tuned for everything we’ve got coming up, make sure to get registered to vote by OCTOBER 5th, and encourage others to register and vote as well.

Stay tuned for what’s next from us, and Hell Yeah DEM Right!

If you weren’t able to make it out on Friday, we’ve got something for you! Cliff Johnson’s campaign is hosting a meet and greet TOMORROW, September 28 at Circle and Square Brewing, just north of campus. He’ll be able to answer your questions, and it’ll be an opportunity for you to get to know the guy who will take back MS-01 from Republicans this November!

Be sure to show up and show out; let’s continue this momentum all the way to the ballot box and beyond!
