In “Places I Go from My Bed” a young patient walks fearfully into the OR, only to discover that her anesthesia mask has become snorkeling gear to take her adventuring by sea, land and sky!

This original work of object theater by @cmmartinezo @ericamurph__ and @katie.mcgerr is made in collaboration with @upstategolisano_childlife and @umusimulation and the support of @su_vpa ; it will tour to @upstategolisano @childrensmuseumtheatremaine and @edfringe this summer.

Follow along as we develop the show and bring it to young audiences in hospital beds and theaters alike!

Last week, our team was honored to welcome SUNY Chancellor John King, Upstate Medical University President Dr. Mantosh Dewan, Assemblymember Alicia Hyndman, Assemblymember Al Stirpe, and Dean of Medicine Dr. Lawrence Chin to the Simulation Center to celebrate the power of collaboration, technology, healthcare, and innovation at Upstate Medical University’s Simulation Department.

Executive Director Dr. Hesham E. Masoud, Director of the Standardized Patient Program Matthew Capogreco, and Director of Research Dr. Hani Aiash highlighted the strong partnerships between Upstate’s programs and SUNY schools that utilize simulation to prepare the next generation of healthcare leaders. Simulation provides students with safe, hands-on training that builds confidence, saves lives, and strengthens our healthcare workforce.

Upstate Medical University also proudly announced the launch of the Upstate Say Yes Scholarship, the first of its kind, providing full tuition, housing, and a stipend to students entering the Norton College of Medicine. This $240,000+ commitment eliminates barriers to medical education and creates life-changing opportunities for students like Alex Guerrero (pictured here), our inaugural recipient.

At Upstate, we are united in one mission: to create pathways, break down barriers, and build the future of healthcare through education, innovation, and opportunity.
