Our UNA ChemE Car team participated in the AIChE Southern Regional Conference hosted at Georgia Tech during April 3-4 2026 👏⚙️
From designing and building their car to competing alongside talented teams from across the region, our students demonstrated creativity, teamwork, and determination every step of the way! Beyond the competition, they gained valuable hands-on experience, strengthened their problem-solving skills, and built lasting connections with fellow engineers. Thank you for the great support from the Department of Engineering and Industrial Professions and the Student Research Grants.
We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication. This was not only a competition, but a truly rewarding learning experience that will stay with them well beyond the classroom. by @una_eip

On November 6th, EIP Engineering students had an amazing visit to Gannet Biochem! 🔬🚀

From the field trip, students learned how real-world bioprocessing happens. Our group got a firsthand look at how biology, chemistry, and engineering come together to solve big problems.
The students asked fantastic questions, explored cutting-edge equipment, and connected classroom concepts with industry innovation. 🙌

🇰🇷🇺🇸 Education Abroad in Korea: 부산 [Busan] = Beaches, Seafood & Summer Bliss 🌊

From our home base in Daejeon, we hopped on the KTX high-speed train 🚄
— just 1 hour to Seoul, 1.5 hours to Busan.

Busan gave us the ultimate summer finale:

• Haeundae Beach @haeundae_official — Korea’s most famous beach, with its wide sandy arc, hotels, cafes, and endless summer energy ☀️
• Fresh 회 [hoe] (Korean-style raw fish) & spicy fish stew 🐟 — can confirm, 10/10
• Swimming, sunbathing, and just living the vacation dream 🏖️

Haeundae is a magnet for beach-goers from all over Korea — and after one visit, we totally get why. 😎

🇰🇷🇺🇸 Education Abroad in Korea: 서울 [Seoul], Double Seoul Trips = Double the Fun 🎉

During our 4-week program, we hit Seoul twice — and each time was packed with adventures.

Trip 1 — History & Heights
• 경복궁 @gyeongbokgung_palace_official — the grandest of Korea’s royal palaces
• National Museum of Korean Contemporary History
• Squid Game popup in Gwanghwamun
• Visit to Darakwon Publishing (and scoring so many free Korean learning books 📚)
• Lotte World Tower — 555 meters tall, 6th tallest in the world 🌏

Trip 2 — Thrills & Home Life
• Spent a day at 롯데월드 @happylotteworld — one of the world’s largest indoor theme parks = total adrenaline overload 🎢
• Followed by 3 days living like a local with Korean host families 🏠

It was the perfect mix of tourist excitement and genuine cultural connection.💜

🇰🇷🇺🇸 Education Abroad in Korea: Korea Unlocked! 🚀

July 2025… what. a. month. 🤩

We spent four incredible weeks in Korea for UNA’s second Education Abroad — and it was everything we hoped for: fun, meaningful, and unforgettable.

We stayed at 충남대학교 (Chungnam National University) in 대전 [Daejeon], Korea’s City of Science. From here, we explored, learned, and connected through so many experiences:

• Legendary Korean bakery @sungsimdang_official

On Nov 06, 2024, our ET students visit R.L. Consulting, Inc. (an electrical control systems integrator company) in Tuscumbia, AL to learn more about PLC based automation. Students obtain first-hand experience of the design, development, build and operation of custom-built PLC control systems. by @una_eip

ET 360 & 214 students visit the Riverbend Solar Farm!

BEST students visited the Riverbend Solar Farm near Oakland, AL, to learn about Power generation from photovoltaic panel systems. Thanks to Jerrod who gave the tour of the site to our students, explaining the functioning, technical details and answering all our questions. July 2024 marked a historic month for us as we embarked on our first-ever Study Abroad in South Korea with our UNA faculty advisors, Dr. Park and Dr. Kim, and a group of UNA students.

Over four weeks, we experienced deep cultural exchanges, science technology, and unforgettable adventures in Korea. Highlights included a homestay with a Korean family in Seoul, engaging with Korean elementary and middle school students, a calligraphy class with a renowned artist, a mime workshop, visits to various research institutions, and exploring Daejeon, the city of science.

We also toured Nonsan, a city with strong ties to North Alabama, and Jeonju, famous for its Korean traditional houses, hanok.
