It's Why Wednesday! Meet Felicia Dempsey.I am in the accelerated nursing program at the University of North Alabama.I am a deeply compassionate individual who has always felt a strong calling to help others in meaningful ways. For the past six years, I have worked in the mental health field as a therapist, where I have discovered a genuine passion for supporting individuals through their most vulnerable moments. This experience not only strengthened my commitment to patient care but also allowed me to witness the profound impact that empathy, patience, and understanding can have on a person’s well-being. My natural ability to connect with others has inspired me to pursue a career in nursing. This field will expand my capacity to provide holistic, hands-on care and make a difference in people’s lives every day. As I continue my professional journey, I plan to further my education to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. One of the most rewarding aspects of ACONHP has been the opportunity it provides to continually build both my confidence and competence as a future nurse. The program’s thoughtfully designed structure immerses me in a diverse range of healthcare settings each semester, allowing me to expand my perspective, adapt to different clinical environments, and refine my skills with each new experience. Beyond the academic and clinical growth, ACONHP has also fostered meaningful and lasting relationships. The connections I have formed with my classmates have grown into genuine friendships that I will carry with me long after the program ends. While there have been moments of doubt where the path forward felt challenging, the unwavering encouragement and support from my classmates, friends, and family have been a constant source of motivation. Their belief in me has strengthened my own, giving me the confidence to persevere, overcome obstacles, and continue striving toward success. by @una_aconhp

ACOTE has granted UNA candidacy status for the Occupational Therapy Master's Program. The University of North Alabama is the only institution in the state to offer both a Master's in Occupational Therapy and a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Today is Why Wednesday! Meet Jedidiah Clements. Growing up I have always put other people first and wanted to help them in any way that I could. There is not a better feeling than being there for somebody and lifting them up when they are having one of their worst days. Knowing that I could change someone’s day for the better is what drives me to become a great nurse. I always knew that I wanted to go into health care because I have multiple family members that are or were nurses, and I wanted to follow in their footsteps. My favorite thing about ACONHP is how it feels like we are a big family and are always there for one another! Roar Lions!! by @una_aconhp

Happy Friday! For this Faulty Friday, meet Dr. Amy Seay. . Why did you choose nursing?I chose nursing because I wanted a career that was more than just a job - I wanted to make a difference. To me, nursing is a ministry. It provides the opportunity to serve others during some of the most critical and difficult moments of their lives. It is truly an honor to care for people when they are at their most vulnerable and, hopefully, to be a light during a time of darkness.2. What makes ACONHP special to you?The Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions is unlike any place I have ever worked. It truly feels like family. Our faculty and staff genuinely care for and support one another. Additionally, everyone has a shared commitment to our students. We all have one common goal, to prepare exceptional nurses, and every faculty and staff member is dedicated to helping our students succeed. by @una_aconhp
