‍
Lady Overdrive presenteert donderdag ook The Woman Who Never Sleeps, het Lady Overdrive songbook (met verrassing!)

CIPOLLINO — CHAPTER IV

Opening: 15 October, 6–9 pm

Spazio Bianca
Via Bianca Ceva 20, Milan
15–31 October 2026

*Opening hours & visits by appointment.
DM or email for details.*

Part of the ongoing CIPOLLINO project, which takes Gianni Rodari’s The Adventures of Cipollino, first published in Vie Nuove in 1951, as a point of departure, the project unfolds across Milan, Vienna, Berlin, Antwerp and Amsterdam through a progressive rarefaction of narrative.

Moving through theoretical references, family memories, personal histories and intermittent collaborations, the story gradually fragments into images, voices, bodies, objects and temporary relations. Elements persist and return across chapters, while others dissolve, mutate or detach from their original meaning. Each location becomes another layer of the same unresolved narrative.

Chapter IV makes things keep growing.

Bert McLean’s intervention brings together Stuck and Untitled (Front Lawn), the two paintings from Chapter I, with new works, entering into dialogue with Susan Benn, Elliot Charrua, We Do We Do, Una Jongenelis and Maria Pinto.

The return of Orlando, The Blind Painting by Elliot, and Hier wordt gewerkt by Una, an interpretation of a painting her father made from a photograph of her grandmother as a little girl with her family on the farmland in Rijsbergen.

A micro-narrative invented by Susan, starting from Bert’s painting Crunchy McGee, will unfold alongside the work itself. Various images affixed to the surrounding trees will extend the exhibition outdoors, moving further into the park. There, in one small display case , one work by Susan will confront the randomness of life.

At the opening, Maria Pinto’s performance The Potato Thief will once again bring the symbol of the potato to the centre.

CIPOLLINO CHAPTER lll

Chapter III takes place at Hell No, Tom Król’s studio and newly opened space, accessed through a window into an intimate, refuge-like environment.

The transition is therefore not only spatial, but psychological.

Nothing I can do is wrong, Everything I can do is wrong
Two contradictory propositions that nevertheless coexist within the same consciousness.
Alongside them, ‘I shouldn’t have done it’ introduces another dimension of self-judgement: regret, responsibility and the impossibility of knowing whether an action was right or wrong until after it has happened.

Works by Una Jongenelis, Bert McLean, Lou Vandam, Elliot Charrua, and Tom Król form an internal journey through memory and self-perception

During the opening, Elliot Charrua and Project X will improvise within the space, somewhere between a happening, a performance and a showing. Sounds, voices, images and sentences will enter into dialogue without resolving their contradictions, generating a temporary micro-narrative.

The Berlin chapter does not conclude by resolving the story. Instead, it leaves it suspended between conflicting possibilities — guilt and innocence, action and paralysis, intimacy and distance, memory and invention.

Like an onion, the layers overlap, revealing another layer without ever reaching a final centre.

Opening 2 October, 6 - 9 pm
Bartelstraße, 10178 Berlin, just next to Rosa Luxemburgplatz.

Powerhouses Una and Bea join forces and end their VERVERS residency in style with a stormy night! Just the like the weather, it is going to be windy, loud and unpredictable. When there’s a storm outside with magnitude 8 on Beaufort Scale it is very difficult to move. You move in the direction of the wind. Resistance is useless, the wind determines your journey. On October 15, WINDKRACHT 8 brings music, performance and books of all sizes. See you there!!
