Writers of Delhi!

Structured as a prompt-driven session, this co-writing jam facilitated by Purée Mag and hosted at Uncanny Stations (@uncannystations), will foreground and draw from jazz and its multi-instrumental lexicon as a way to think about spontaneity, rhythm and present tense in writing.

The session will take place through a set of short readings, core findings from improv, exercises geared towards strengthening your writing muscle, and resources to think about your practice.

More info:

Building on the existing Reading Group for Listening initiated by the Bureau for Listening and the Laboratory for Sound at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, this reading group expands the format into an international, collaborative online group for shared study and exchange around listening as an artistic, critical, and social practice.

The group will gather bi-monthly online, following the core principle of collective reading, listening and discussion: each session begins with a shared, aloud reading of a selected text (no preparation needed to participate), followed by an open discussion aiming more towards the questions and potentials of the text, rather than how to ‘understand correctly’. Spending time and attention together, listening to the text and each voices, while having a space for ones doubts and wonderings is the central vision for the reading group. This format emphasizes listening not only as a subject of inquiry but as a method of being together, cultivating attention, reflection, and co-learning across disciplines.

Each gathering will be hosted by a different international partner engaged in practices of listening, who will contribute by choosing and presenting a text for collective reading and frame the session through their situated approach to listening. In doing so, the project creates a rotating, distributed structure that reflects the plurality of listening practices across contexts. by @uncannystations

শূন্যস্থান / ਘਰ ਦਾ ਨਕਸ਼ਾ | Track 0
Amy × Aarohan × Rifat × Aditi × Nilanjan × Tilottama in ritual with Kaur Chimuk ~ On 11 October at 7 pm at @khojstudios

This experimentation is part of the @listeningbiennial 's third edition.

শূন্যস্থান / ਘਰ ਦਾ ਨਕਸ਼ਾ | Track 01, After summarising the first stage of this exchange, we wish to extend our collaboration into a wider flux. Our current layer is on the further fermentation stage—what we also like to pronounce asl শূন্যস্থান (Shunyosthan). 11 October at 7 pm at Khoj Studios, we will share an open mixing/sharing with everyone.

.... We're processing the farmentation, for our mutual understanding, one can approach this proposition as a collective attempt to sense the nature of unborn space—not as the reforming of a site but as a residue of randomness, an unavoidable state of entropic probability.
..

Ingredients -

~Amy / intervening with text-detext, resonance, nostalgia
~Nilanjan /intervening with intertext, recalling, memoir
~Aarohan /intervening with resistance, feedback, and grain
~Rifat /intervening with melancholy, harmony, diellama
~Tilottama /intervening with knots, participatory, absorb
~Aditi i/intervening with intersections, media, void
~kaur/intervening with negotiations, farmentations, lag
..

(Inspired by the durational collaborative research ‘a south-asian queer pamphlet’ / @asouthasianqueerpamphlet , kaur intiaited this process to expand the rituals with their allies, during this exchange they got the chance to connect @suvanisuri (artist–researcher–curator) and with their care and attention - kaur felt this as hope to develop the existing artistic archive within the framework of the upcoming Listening Biennale (August 21 – October 26, 2025), which will be shared across Singapore, Chile, India, Germany, and their extended curatorial network.)

My deepest solidarity for sharing the peripheries.

Young Collectors’ Programme x The Listening Biennial

The Listening Biennial @listeningbiennial opened last week at Khoj @khojstudios with an evening of performances by INDY @indy_k.7, Shiv Ahuja @shivahuja, and Himachal Travels with Geetanjali @geetanjalikalta and Ayana @ayanadoesmusic with a visionary soundscape of exploratory auditory poetics.

The Listening Biennial 2025 has been curated by Brandon Labelle @b_llabelle, Soledad Garcia @lacurasur, Alecia Neo @alecianeo and Suvani Suri @suvanisuri, with the Delhi chapter from September 25 to October 14 steered by Suvani Suri and manifested in discursive and performative assemblies at Uncanny Stations @uncannystations followed by an exhibition and supporting programs at Khoj.

Our partner Pour Over Coffee Roasters @pourover.in provided a range of bites with refreshing beverages.

Is a score a set of finite instructions? Or is it an indeterminate process? Or is it both? neither? Or an in-between?

Set in the context of the Listening Biennale in Delhi, this workshop explores the score as a site for improvisation and translation. The session invites participants to think of scores as open frameworks that register processes, gestures, or ways of being in the world.

Suvani and Surbhi will open the workshop with their questions on what makes a score, followed by sharing scores by artists they admire and processes behind some of their own explorations. Amidst the works of the Listening Biennale, participants will engage with scores as visual, textual, and performative propositions that can take the shape of drawings, diagrams, instructions, movements, or spatial arrangements.

If you have a sketchbook, journal or notebook, you use regularly, and any materials that you feel you want to experiment with (prints, photographs, paints, thread- really anything!) bring it along with you! This is also totally optional - you could just come and be a part of the conversations.

When: 11 AM - 1:30 PM
Where: Khoj Studios, Khirkee Extension

Join us this evening at Khoj Studios for the performances to open the Listening Biennial in Delhi.

For this set Shiv @shivahuja will be improvising with a Buchla Music Easel, where live loops echo hazy memories and drones drift into imagined soundscapes.

With a mix of instruments, recordings, foley, vocal textures, and rhythmic elements, the sonic journey by INDY moves through the sounds we hear and the voices we don’t. @indy_k.7

Himachal Travels shares their repertoire of folk melodies and rhythms of myth, mystic, ruin and repair. Braiding some chill moves and grooves with guitars, violin, bass, hints of electronics, their music tells the tale of how folk moves and endures.
