POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
This is the Arri 416, the last 16mm camera Arri ever made. It came out in 2006. It's a rad little camera.

I was working at Panavision in 2006, and I get sent on a special run (because I was a special guy) to Arri in Burbank to pick it up. This is back when Arri was still across the street from the Burger King in Back To The Future, which amazingly IS still there.

Anyway, I got sent on a special mission to pick up the very first 416 on delivery to Arri, because it was set aside for Michael Bay. His assistant kept calling, asking if Id picked it up yet. I said there was a bit of a paperwork delay, but I was sitting IN shipping/receiving waiting for it, and Id let them know the second I had it. They kept calling. After maybe the 3rd call, Id had it and said "They havent given it to me yet, what the hell do you want me to do?!" And in the background on the phone I hear "all RIGHT, JEEZE." Apparently Id been on speaker phone that whole time, and he heard me. She goes "Michael says ok, and to call me as soon as you have it." So like 15 minutes later, I did, and she was like "Michael says thank you very much."

I dont know what the point of this story was, I guess it was "one time I sort of yelled at Michael Bay once, and didnt get fired." I probably listened to Tom Leykis on 97.1 on the drive back to Woodland Hills, in 95 degree heat and no AC in the Panavision van.

Daniel Waters has been one of my favorite writers since I was a kid. No one can take a failed star vehicle and make it into a cult classic afterwards like he does. Adventures Of Ford Fairlane, Hudson Hawk, Demolition Man. He wrote Batman Returns too. (And Heathers, of course, but I was never a Heathers guy. Sorry) Nobody does dark twisted subversive humor quite like this fellow.

I was just reading in that "Last Action Heroes" book about how unbelievably prescient and creepily accurate so much stuff from Demolition Man ended up being.

He's an old grouch and he's really fucking funny and I love heem, he's been a huge influence on me.

That is all. by @uncleluke2

Well, so long @2020camera_rental

Ten years I worked here. 12 years in this building. Got to shoot many shorts, with professional grade movie gear (thanks to the gracious @loganschneider) I shot with some of my favorite actors in here; Mike Starr, Eric Roberts, Samm Levine, Friday (the porn star) and the final onscreen performance of Tiny Lister/Deebo from Friday. (He died like two weeks later. Probably of embarrassment)

I got to shoot a comedy special(ish) 3 camera shoot with the crew from Drunk History operating and the inimitable @garrrrr. Im almost positive no other no-name comedians possibly in the history of stand up comedy ever had such a well-produced demo reel. (Arri Alexas, Optimo 12:1 zoom, Cooke anamorphic lenses. Ridiculous)

I got to direct my first short/first real project, "The New Guy." I recorded at least 100 episodes of a podcast here. I got to drive to Montana and back. I got to hang around with & meet Danny Trejo, John C Reilly, Greig Fraser, and lots of others. We were the cameras/gear for lots of cool TV shows & movies, we did the Arnold documentary on Netflix. (My boss shot it)

I got to hire friends and people who needed money as drivers for us. I slept here sometimes. I learned to ride a motorcycle here. I got to work out at Golds Venice a couple miles away on the regular. I wrote two features and a six part limited series in here. Made friends for life here. It was more of a 2nd home than a job. Ocean breeze. Fresh air. Close to Juice Crafters. Gonna miss this place, even though Im 99% sure it was haunted.

Weirdfellas Shoots ("Weirdfellas," on Youtube):
Uber, Chris' Lawnmowers, Gay Batman Forever, Politically Incorrect Batman, Wiretap Scars, Powdered Donuts, Santa's Worshop, Whoppers, The New Guy, 2018 Comedy Demo Extravaganza. (Featuring Yashar Kafi, Eric Eocha, Rob Banks, myself, and the lovely Travis Clybourn hosting)

Shoutout to @jason_m_leeds for maybe the greatest single take/steadicam shot in Weirdfellas history on GBF 🙌🏽

If Im having even 1% of the fun that @stigma_nyc Vinnie Stigma is having when Im in my 70s, it would be a triumph. This man is a goddamn inspiration and one of the greatest people of the 20th century. Whenever I put gas in my Harley, I play the #Terminator 2 song to knock any remaining droplets out of the nozzle before I hang it up, so it doesn't drip on my gas tank. It works well, and it's even more appropriate because I bought this bike from @ripfighter. (Ive been doing this for the better part of a decade.) by @uncleluke2

We spent most of the night digging through the new Epstein files to see if we were mentioned. We WERE, but only to say "never let any of these people near me." @ericrochacomedy @virzitriplets taken in The Comedy Store by @uncleluke2

This is the house my first real girlfriend lived in. One time I was backing out of the driveway in my Mustang, which had a really small rear window and it was obscured with some large speakers Id bought.

I backed into a large SUV in the street, and had to go to the door to tell the fellow that lived there what happened. The house was unexpectedly extravagant on the inside, you would have never have guessed. He was very nice about it and appreciated that I didn't do a hit & run.

I forget the exact details, but I believe it went something like this - when he went to get it repaired at the body shop, the mechanics noticed what looked like a suspicious compartment in the truck for smuggling things. They alerted the cops, and the cops put surveillance on the guy.

It turned out he was one of the biggest drug dealers in Buffalo, and they captured one of the largest stashes of cocaine in Buffalo history in his house. It all started because I backed into his stupid truck.

(That girl cheated on me and broke my heart and left me a bitter, untrustworthy bastard for the rest of my life. I saw her in that very front window with a boy on her couch. But at least she got me into Hot Water Music, who became one of my favorite bands) by @uncleluke2

38 years ago, this was a #BlockbusterVideo, one of the earliest ones in Buffalo. My family was always quite behind on tech, we didn't get a VCR til 1989. We came here to rent our first movie, I insisted it be Ghostbusters II.

I also had the Ghostbusters II soundtrack, and listened to it quite consistently. In music class in 6th grade, for some reason you had to bring in a song and explain something about it, or something like that. The only cassettes I owned were this, Beastie Boys License To Ill, the soundtrack to "Buster" (because I liked the Phil Collins song) and Fat from Weird Al Yankovich.

I played "Spirit" by Doug E Fresh and the Get Fresh Crew off the Ghostbusters soundtrack as my music class assignment, because I thought it was hip. Everyone was like "what is this shit, you're a dork." I think even the teacher said it, understandably.

I was basically a-musical until I discovered AC/DC Back in Black in later 6th grade. taken in Cheektowaga, New York by @uncleluke2
