This one’s been cooking for a while, and I’m proud to announce Uncle Pish’s Balcony Sessions are finally live! I’m kicking off the first session with my vinyl DNA: OG samples & the hip-hop joints that flipped ‘em. This is what pulled me into collecting records in the first place.

Each week, I’ll be inviting some of my favorite vinyl heads and selectors to drop a set straight from my balcony. No frills; just deep cuts, funky grooves, and the people pushing the scene forward.
New session drops next week. Stay tuned.

Raymonde - Chanson Marocaine

A true icon of Moroccan-Jewish music, Raymonde El Bidaouia’s (later on changed to Raymonde Abecassis) voice captures the heart of châabi—Morocco’s soulful sound. Born in Casablanca, she became a bridge between Jewish and Muslim communities, blending Sephardic melodies with traditional Moroccan rhythms.

Not only a music legend, Raymonde is the mother of famous Israeli actress Yael Abecassis and the grandmother of one of my very close friends. About 10 years ago, we went to see her perform live, and it was an unforgettable experience—people were throwing money at her on stage! Her album Chanson Marocaine is a beautiful homage to her roots, filled with emotion, nostalgia, and the vibrant sounds of her homeland.

Released between the late 70’s and early 80’s by Zakiphone/Koliphone as a part of Chanson Marocaine Series

Press play, close your eyes, and let the music take you on a journey.🌍✨

Pray For Haiti - Mach-Hommy

Released by Daupe! (2021), Limited Edition Black Vinyl, Numbered 0476/1500

From the title itself to the recurring themes, the album is a reflection of Mach-Hommy’s pride in his Haitian identity and his desire to highlight Haiti’s struggles, culture, and resilience

The album cover, featuring artwork by Haitian legend Jean-Michel Basquiat, connects Mach-Hommy to a legacy of artists reclaiming and celebrating their Haitian heritage

Mach-Hommy crafts albums that feel like immersive mood pieces. The production carries the signature Griselda style—heavy, brooding, and slow-paced—yet it still offers standout moments

The record goes around $120, while the highest price paid on Discogs is $160.

Big up @hiphoponvinyl.il for the sweet score🫱🏼‍🫲🏿

Jazzmatazz’ (Vol 1) - Guru (Chrysalis Records, 1993)

A groundbreaking fusion of jazz and hip-hop, featuring Guru’s smooth flow and collaborations with jazz legends such as Donald Byrd, Loonie Liston Smith and Roy Ayers.

A pivotal release for fans of both genres and vinyl collectors. Top songs include ‘Loungin’’, ‘Trust Me’, and ‘No Time to Play’

Guru (an acronym for “Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal”) viewed Jazzmatazz Vol. 1 as a way to educate hip-hop fans about jazz and its cultural importance. He hoped to introduce a younger audience to jazz through hip-hop, creating a bridge between the two (much like I strive for). Although Guru was half of the renowned hip-hop duo Gang Starr with DJ Premier, Premier didn’t produce this album. Guru wanted Jazzmatazz to have a different vibe, focusing more on live jazz elements than Premier’s signature boom-bap style

1st US press goes for around $100, while the highest price paid on Discogs is $1250! IDK bout dat thou
