ℹ️ WHAT IS GOING ON IN BALDWIN HILLS?: Lot update - for the moment, the lot on the northwestern corner of Stocker St and Don Felipe Drove is intentionally being left completely vacant. It does not have an active long-term commercial tenant. Because it sits directly adjacent to the upcoming construction site across the street, it will likely be restricted or preserved for logistical support, street-widening initiatives, and construction staging as the 35-month studio build begins. taken in Baldwin Hills by @uncletonyspov

ℹ️ Edward Vincent Jr. (June 23, 1934 – August 31, 2012) was an American politician who made history as the first African American mayor of Inglewood, California, serving from 1983 to 1996. He later transitioned to state politics, serving as a Democratic member of the California State Assembly and representing the 25th Senatorial District in the California State Senate from 2000 until 2008.

Beyond his civic career, he was a star college athlete and briefly a professional football player and served in the Armed Forces.

Elected mayor in 1983, he was re-elected three times. He gained notoriety for tough anti-crime stances, once even chasing down and subduing a purse-snatcher himself to set an example.

Vincent went on to serve 12 years in Sacramento, concluding his tenure in the California State Senate. He passed away from heart complications at age 78.

In 1997, Inglewood's largest and most historic public space, Centinela Park, was renamed Edward Vincent Jr. Park to honor his legacy and community impact.

ℹ️ The Buffalo Wild Wings at 3939 Crenshaw Blvd closed permanently as part of a broader corporate downsizing strategy paired with severe, long-standing operational problems at this specific location.

Parent company Inspire Brands has been systematically closing underperforming full-service sports bars. Facing rising labor costs, food inflation, and tighter consumer budgets, the brand is actively shifting away from maintaining large, expensive dine-in spaces. Instead, they are redirecting corporate focus toward their smaller, delivery-and-takeout-optimized "BWW GO" models.

While economic conditions triggered the corporate pullout, local performance sealed this specific location's fate. Up until its closing, customer reviews showed a harsh reality of understaffing, infrastructure neglect, and declining quality of food and service.

There are currently no new tenants nor prospects for the property.

Meanwhile, Albertsons on Crenshaw is not currently leaving or closing. While there has been a lot of community anxiety and national grocery news causing rumors, the store at 3901 Crenshaw Blvd (inside the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza footprint) remains open and operational.

Nationally, Albertsons was originally planning to merge with Kroger. During that process, they released a list of locations that would be sold off to a third-party company (C&S Wholesale Grocers) to prevent monopoly issues, and the 3901 Crenshaw Blvd location was on that divestiture list. However, the massive $24.6 billion merger completely collapsed due to federal and state antitrust legal challenges. Because the merger failed, Albertsons is maintaining its local presence. While the chain has selectively closed some unprofitable stores across Southern California to stabilize finances following the failed deal, the Crenshaw store is not on the current closure list.

The Macy's building at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza is permanently closed, and the property is now fully integrated into the master plan for the $1 billion multi-phase redevelopment of the entire 42-acre mall site. taken in Baldwin Hills by @uncletonyspov
