At school, before the upperclassmen arrive, the mornings are quiet and still. A Japanese Katsura shades the bench, a gift from the class of 1896. Soon, I too, will be but a distant memory from a long ago class, as modern day students sit in my spot, perhaps they will also read Karen Blixen's Out of Africa. by @uncleyags

Behind University Hall between Harris and Swift sits the Class of 1896's gift to the school. A wonderful little park anchored by Pine, Elm, Aspen and Willows, offers a quiet bench to read, contemplate or meet friends. This morning I sat here, 130 years later. I began to read Karen Blixen's "Out of Africa". She paints a luxurious, expansive, portrait that immediately carries me away, It is as if I sit next to her as she tells me a story, "I had a farm in Africa. @northwesternuniversity. by @uncleyags
