Hello, friends! Thank you for all of you who have reached out and checked in on us and for those who haven't had the capacity, but I know hold us in their hearts. It blesses me everyday to know you're there walking alongside us on this journey.
For our updates this month, John's neuropathy in his hands and feet is still pretty bad, causing unsteadiness and keeping him from being able to participate in his hobbies. His sense of taste is still very off, but he's eating better and getter stronger...and hairier. 😄 We've even started back going to the Y! It's slow going with lots of back and forth, which I know has been frustrating for him, but all in all there's lots of good.
In other news, I'm excited to be starting back to work toward the end of this month. There's still documentation requirements to square away, and as these will be hourly over salaried I still have a little nervousness about the future, but Boy, am I relieved! Ideally the nature of the roles I'll be in will allow me to have a flexible schedule so I can still be available for John as well as continue to build Uncommon Paths. Thank you for following that progress as well and for all your support.
The one ask I do have, if you have capacity, is for financial support as we weather this final push of limited income. We have several bills that are backed up and additional expenses that cropped up that we haven't been able to cover. I'll put our details in the comments and if you have any additional questions, please feel free to DM me.
No news yet on John's upcoming surgery. Timing is looking like 2026, unless they plan it for over the holidays which would be unlikely and totally wild. I still have lots of questions and concerns about how well manage that, but that's for another day. I've certainly got enough on my plate for now. 😅
Thank you again for your love and support. I appreciate you so very much! 🙏🏼❤️🥰 by @uncommon_paths

Hello, I'm Valor Grimm, a holistic mental health & wellness coach with a master's degree in couples and family therapy. I'm the founder of Uncommon Paths and Conscious Connections, an intentional community exploring unique ways to heal, love, and liberate our world.

Welcome to Day 1 of Uncommon Gratitude.

If you're like me, things have been a bit challenging this year. So, let's celebrate harvest season and the ending of the year with some unlikely and maybe even surprising things to be thankful for.
My uncommon gratitude for today is Darkness.

A lot of folks relate to darkness negatively. They associate it with things like ignorance, evil, danger - something to fear and avoid.
Light on the other hand, is commonly a blessing, associated with positive things like hope, inspiration, goodness, and truth.
But Darkness is also when we sleep and find restoration.
Darkness encourages us to find comfort in family and friends, and to gather together in community close to the things we value and hold dear.
And darkness is the only way we're able to fully experience the wonder and magnificence of stars, planets, nebulae, and the aurora borealis. Something I dream of experiencing someday.
Darkness can be calm and cool, deep and profound, smooth and complex,
magical and generative. In darkness, we dream and create whole worlds. The solace of darkness invites us to look inward, and inspires us to reflect and truly meet ourselves. It's where we grow and learn humility.

In darkness, we remember that WE are light, and that light is within each and every one of us.

Darkness inspires us to reach out, to remember the joy it is to share light with others. As we connect, we learn love. We heal and we thrive.

And that's why today I'm grateful for darkness.

If you made it this far, comment the new moon emoji 🌑 and share how Darkness has inspired YOU to shine.
What is the light you wish to bring to the world today?
Come back tomorrow to celebrate more uncommon gratitude. by @uncommon_paths

DM ‘IMMERSION’ to apply

Our next in-person gathering is happening Nov 21 - 26 at the Temple of One in Escondido CA.

Here are some reviews from our students and previous retreat attendees.

During our 6-day in-person immersion, you will:
• Learn to guide group hypnosis and Yoga Nidra with confidence 🧘🏽‍♀️
• Integrate sound healing and subtle body wisdom into your classes 🎼
• Develop the ability to regulate group energy and speak with transformational presence ⚡️
• Experience facilitation labs, live feedback, and community rituals that refine your art 📚

This is your opportunity to end the year in devotion to your own growth — surrounded by vegan meals, inspiring peers, and powerful practices that help you expand your income and impact doing what you love.

As a yoga teacher, coach, or healer, you chose this path to improve the lives of others.

Now it’s time to pour back into your own cup — while investing in your craft and community.

This is a private, professional training, not a casual retreat.

We prioritize members currently enrolled in our Advanced Yoga Teacher Training and Yoga Mindfulness Coach Training programs.

Only 9 spots remain.

Early-bird tuition: $999 before November 1st. $1199

If you feel called, comment “Immersion” below and we’ll reach out personally.

Through sound, stillness, and service — we remember: We are One. 🪷 by @uncommon_paths

Life Updates!

Blessings first - after a rough set back on August and September, John met with a dietician, PT, and OT and is starting to see some improvements. He's stronger and more mobile and increasing his endurance. He's eating better and food is becoming more palatable, dare I say sometimes enjoyable? We went to the Y again for the first time in a few months. It kicked both of our asses, but it was nice to be able to participate again. We're communicating better as a couple and growing stronger together, individually and as a whole.

The challenges - while you're eligible for a full year, unemployment only covers 6 months (26 weeks). This means I no longer have a guaranteed income. I have leaned into gig work while I continue to work traditional angles, but the response there has been very sparse, and while John's care needs are higher it also serves us for my schedule to be more flexible. There's a lot to be worried about financially and otherwise, but I am doing my best to stay strong and focused on solutions. I'm still cleaning and decluttering and working on getting us out of storage commitments that are the main expense since my mother in law passed away and my father in law moved out of state. It's a slow, arduous process. Youth accumulates, aging purges. Shed or shed 🥁😆. Things have been tight for a while, but we've been able to eek by. The last couple of months we've gotten more behind on bills, especially utilities.

Support needs - please share about my offerings and partake if interested. I am a mental health and wellness coach, I do trainings in grief, trauma, recovery and healing using mindfulness and somatic approaches, with 18+ years of professional direct service experience, I read Tarot, and in addition to repping doTERRA, I offer custom oil blends. I also distribute Norwex. I also have $apps of you'd like to and are able to provide more direct support. Most of all, if you could offer up whatever petitions you can to the Universe or God on our behalf, I would be immensely grateful.

If you made it this far, thank you for your time and love. 🙏🏽💞 I am profoundly fortunate to have you in my life. by @uncommon_paths
