OPEN DECK #39 🖤🔊

What a buzz.

We thought it might be a quiet one with the rain coming down and EP kicking off the next day… absolutely not. You lot showed up. ⚡️

First gigs. First plays of original tracks. DJ battles. New connections. Everyone absolutely smashing their sets. 🫡

We also brought back our Jump On feature, which means if you’ve got a USB, you can rock up and get a chance to play. We had a couple of people jump on this time and it was class. 🎛️

We’ll be keeping it going next month too, so if you miss the sign-up or don’t get a slot, there’ll still be space to come down and jam. Just remember… always carry a USB. 👀

Big love to everyone who comes down and supports the DJs, especially those of you who keep showing up month after month. We really appreciate it. 🖤

And a massive thank you to The Liberty and all the staff, who are always so kind and sound to us. ❤️

⚔️🎧 DJ BATTLE → NAVAN

Over the past year, we’ve been running our DJ Battles at Open Deck in the liberty, with one little end goal in mind, to give one of the contenders a chance to step outside Cork and play in a new city.

We’ve linked up with Smack Daddy in Navan, who shares the same love for supporting emerging artists, and after a very tough decision, the slot is going to Childish Lambino 🙌

There were some seriously strong contenders, but Lambino gave a great case for why he should get the slot. On top of that, he’s been a brilliant supporter of Open Deck, always showing up, jumping in and helping out, and that definitely didn’t go unnoticed.

He’s also been producing and playing his own tracks for years, with an eclectic sound you’ll have caught across plenty of Cork dancefloors.

So we’re absolutely buzzing to send Childish Lambino to Navan to play Smack Daddy’s final Summer House Party 🏠🔥

Well deserved.

See you on the dancefloor. by @undergroundovation

3 years. 🤯❤️

Still mad to think this little idea has turned into one of Cork’s longest-running open deck nights.

Massive thank you to every single DJ who played, everyone who came down to celebrate with us, and everyone who popped over just to wish us a happy birthday. It genuinely means a lot.

Huge shout out to The Liberty for backing the project from day one and giving us a home every month. Big thanks as well to all the staff, you were all so sound and always make everyone feel welcome. ❤️

Thank you to Monster Energy and Maharini Gin for helping us celebrate another brilliant night. 💚🍸

Big love to @fitz.squigglez for keeping busy all night with the flash hand-poke tattoos. It was class seeing so many people leaving with a little birthday memory. 🖤

Looking around the room, seeing familiar faces, new faces, people catching up, supporting each other, and just enjoying the music… that’s exactly what Open Deck has always been about.

Thanks to everyone who’s been part of the journey over the last 3 years. Whether you’ve played, watched, helped out or simply told a mate to come along, you’ve all had a part in making this what it is.

See you at the next one. 🎧❤️
