Seasons Greetings Family ✨️

It's been a quiet year from us, but the locals sure have been making a noise!
As we usher 2025 out, our resident selector and head of @underpresh Bo's Hub, has gifted us a mix truly worthy of closing the year.

We hope you enjoy this well blended mix of sonic frequencies as much we enjoy sharing the music with you, and we guarantee more shows in the new year!

PODCAST | Episode 0: Introducing STOKVEL.

STOKVEL is a podcast by Matri-Archi(tecture) that brings together the voices of African and African diasporic women in architecture, art and curation; to pool our knowledge into a collective basket. This basket, space or gathering draws inspiration from the South African stokvel model. In celebrating knowledge exchange, criticality and tenderness; our conversations depart from practices of care ultimately aiming to redefine the conditions under which we collaborate. We share and reflect on methodologies from our experiences, to imagine other possible ways of working together in the fields of architecture, art and curation.

In this episode we spend a moment introducing STOKVEL, which took place as a series of in-person discussions at Kunsthalle Bern, Switzerland earlier this year in April.

Featuring: iLiana Fokianaki (@ilianafokianaki) director of Kunsthalle Bern (@kunsthallebern)

Sound insertion: Ananda Jade (@ananda.jadee)

Creative direction + host: Khensani Jurczok-de Klerk (@khen_dek)
Jingle: Under Pressure Sundays – Bonolo Thomas (@underpresh)
Sound post-production: Neo Twala (@_twala)

Graphic design: Emma Kouassi (@emma.affoua.kouassi)
Typeface: Ronald by Samara Keller (@keller_samara )

STOKVEL season 1 is made possible with the generous support of Pro Helvetia Swiss Art Council (@prohelvetia) and the Südkulturfonds (@artlink.ch)

Top of the morning ✨

We’re super excited to announce the line-up for our October gathering, and this month we going in quality wise.

First up, we have Jozi’s finest sonic selector, known for her adaptable and versatile ear. Someone ranked highly in conversations about good, classy music… the incredible Mamthug!!!

Next up, we have an underdog with an impressive production catalog. This homie’s music definitely pushes boundaries ranging from drum and bassy numbers to hip hop head bobbing instrumentals… introducing the talented Trinsik!!!

Next up, we have an extremely talented producer who’s known for his TOP TIER beats. If it’s not nasty ill trill trap, it’s smooth layered piano gems. We don’t know what to expect with this homie but we trust that it will bang… let’s give it up for DoouShii!!!

And last but not least, we have our beautiful residents Nen x Nen and Nouveaux, who will be keeping you company as we open and close our lovely gathering.

We hope to see you there Famalam 💙🤍✨ by @underpresh

Heeeeyaaaa (OutKast voice and side head bob) 😜

It’s time to announce the musical fixture for our beachy, beatsy jol on the 29th and this month we are going in on representing local producers we love and admire.

First up, we have a future beats guru, who’s known to offer lovely bassy (zwi zwi esque) sounds, infused with melodic goodness @zuksftw.

Next, we have our friendly neighbourhood producer @yolophonik, who’s known for his consistent output of bangers. It’s hard to tie the homie down to a particular sound, owing to his eclectic nature, so expect nca tunes only.

Next we have our beautiful, wholesome friend known for his soothing, reflection inducing soundscapes @bulifromspace. Don’t be fooled, as Buli may unlock sneaky hard tunes that will energize you. Regardless of your mood, the homie got you!

And of course, we have our lovely, goated residents @nouveauxsa @nightcrawlerz___ and Nen x Nen who will keep you company as the day transitions to the night.

Tickets are available on Quicket 💛🌻✨ taken in Play Braamfontein by @underpresh
