LEVIATHAN - last shooting day in Durban of new film Leviathan with Steve Lichtag and BIG MEDIA by @underwaterfilmunit

Hey, this is our new showreel. Dive in! 🧜‍♀️🤿
#hello #newshowreel by @underwaterfilmunit

Our new work from this summer, we were privileged to work on underwater part of the film. @wolfberg_ @adamnoska @revers_films @surkala_alex @tomasdrdacky @o2slovakia by @underwaterfilmunit

It happens everytime.
Yes! 🅴🆅🅴🆁🆈🆃🅸🅼🅴. On every set.
People want to go deep. More so on hot summer days, but we could say it is a rule. The truth is though that the less people in the pitch the easier the shoot.
See how many legs are there in the photo? Just sayin’.

One way communication is possible.
Obviously from the land into the water.
Or did you think that it is possible to speak from underwater?

Actors are capable of becoming almost anything that is asked of them by the director, but 🆄🅽🅳🅴🆁🆆🅰🆃🅴🆁 🅰🅲🆃🅸🅽🅶 is a story of its own.
Moving under water and making faces and gestures is different.
Once they learn the basics, the flow comes, but a coach is highly recommended.

Theoretically it seems easy, in practice not so much.
For an unexperienced person, going underwater is a big deal on its own.
So imagine the stress of having to handle equipment or performing a scene.
We are aware of it and that's why we highly recommend hiring an 🆄🅽🅳🅴🆁🆆🅰🆃🅴🆁 🅲🅾🅰🅲🅷.
Professional, experienced and lovely, of course.

There is no grip crew underwater but there is a 🆂🅰🅵🅴🆃🆈 🅳🅸🆅🅴🆁 whose job it is to make sure all runs smoothly and everyone in the water is safe.
Safety diver is a certified professional with filming experience.

🅲🅰🅼🅴🆁🅰 🅰🆂🆂🅸🆂🆃🅰🅽🆃 is the operator’s right hand on the dry land.
Setting up the camera and adjusting the air pressure in the housing is only the beginning.
There are meters of cable, more specifically 45 🅼🅴🆃🅴🆁🆂 🅾🅵 🅲🅰🅱🅻🅴 and that is also the depth that the camera can go to.
There are lenses to change and data to wrangle, unless of course, there is DIT operator. by @underwaterfilmunit

Working as a 🅲🅰🅼🅴🆁🅰 🅾🅿🅴🆁🅰🆃🅾🆁 underwater is a discipline in which you need to be as good a diver as a cameraman. @vojtanedved has SSI certification and
diving has been his passion for over a decade.
He graduated from the film school in Písek and started working on commercials, TV shows and films while still a student.

Over the years behind the camera, he has found his uniqueness in 🆄🅽🅳🅴🆁🆆🅰🆃🅴🆁 filming and is one of the few in the Czech Republic to do so.

Check out his work, as he filmed the underwater scenes from Žižka with actor Ben Foster.

🅵🅾🅲🆄🆂 🅿🆄🅻🅻🅴🆁 doesn’t need to be a trainer diver or a diving enthusiast because they stay on the dry land and 🅼🅰🆈🅱🅴 get their feet wet.
This way the DPs can work with their beloved focus pullers and vise versa.
Focusing is exclusively‼️ Arri WCU-4 or Hi-5.

Our 🅽🅰🆄🆃🅸🅲🅰🅼 housing is compatible with almost any fixed film lenses or zoom lenses with PL mount.

→ ARRI Ultra Prime
→ Cooke s4i
→ Leica Summicron-C
All of the above have a beautiful rendition under water.

In general, the shortest focusing distance is advisable for 🆄🅽🅳🅴🆁🆆🅰🆃🅴🆁 lenses.
