Sometimes I feel like I’m being pulled in two directions at once—like the sky is calling me but everything around me keeps holding me here. The hands that kept me down weren’t cruel—they were soft, familiar, steady. My family, a girl I trusted, even the trees outside my school—they all reached for me in ways I didn’t even realize I needed. And I think that’s what keeps me going: finding those little reasons, one touch, one hand at a time, that make the world feel like it’s answering me back. I’m learning to hold onto those moments, even while I keep looking up.

Sometimes we forget how much of ourselves we learned to give away before we learned to keep any of it for ourselves. How we became good at noticing the unsaid and the undone.
Maybe growing up teaches us to be gentle with everyone before it teaches us that we deserve the same gentleness too. That staying for our own selves matter too. That not every love has to leave us a little emptier.

Who am I without my burdens?

Some of us would finally breathe. We'd laugh louder, love deeper, forgive easier, and discover that beneath the weight we were always gentle souls waiting to bloom. But for others, our burdens became the fire that shaped us. They taught us resilience, gave our scars a voice, and turned every wound into wisdom. Without them, we might not recognize the person staring back at us.

So maybe the question isn't whether our burdens should exist but whether they should continue carrying us. Honor what they built, but don't mistake them for your identity. You are more than what broke you. And if your burdens made you unstoppable, let your healing make you unforgettable. by @unfinishedbyk
