— team Unic Fencing: We have set a National Record of Ukraine — the largest fencing lesson ever held.
On April 18 in Kyiv, at our partner’s educational space — MIDGARD,
91 participants — children and coaches.
This is an officially recognized National Record of Ukraine.

But this event is about more than just numbers.
For us, it’s an opportunity to draw attention from society, business, and the state
to the challenges Ukrainian fencing is facing today.

We sincerely thank our partner — MIDGARD —
for the trust, support, and shared belief in the power of sport.
We also thank Morshynska, our hydration partner,
for taking care of all participants at the event.

Special thanks to the honored guests who personally supported the record:

Your coach is counting on a result. Your club expects you to deliver. Your friends are following your season. And somewhere around 9-9, the fear creeps in — not of losing, but of letting them all down.

In this clip, Zoya Zackavec talks about external expectations: the weight of what your coach, club, and the people around you want from you — and how to keep that weight off the strip. The pressure that matters most is often the one we imagine others are putting on us. Zoya shows how to notice it, name it, and fence your own bout instead of someone else’s.

Zoya is a founder of @the_fencing_mentor , former NCAA Division I fencer, two-time U.S. national champion, and a licensed clinical social worker with 12+ years in mental health. She works with competitive fencers on confidence, pressure, and recovering from mistakes.
