While Slam Poetry Was Formally Founded In The 1980s, Its Spirit Is Deeply Rooted In Earlier Black Literary Movements, Especially The Harlem Renaissance.Rooted In That Legacy, Poets Like Langston Hughes, Maya Angelou And Later Jessica Care Moore Proved That Words Could Shape Culture And Challenge Systems.
