Here’s another memory of days gone by ….My grandad and grandma Simpson again built this calor gas, haulage, coal merchants business on mill lane addlethorpe it’s just an empty space now opposite the windmill in addlethorpe
This was once a very busy thriving business we all worked in the business from a very young age loading Lorrie’s with gas bottles to go off on Saturday morning with the haulage drivers out all day no food no drink and we survived it all … we had lorries transporting cases from Skegness railway station to butlins reception to make life easier for the holiday makers we started at 5 am loading cases on Lorries and worked all day every day in the summer holidays this is probably why I’ve had a good strong work ethic never known what it was like not to work
Dad would say …. ‘What are you doing ?
I darnt say nothing as he would find me a job lol 😂
So I always made out I was busy … we got wise to him god rest his sole I miss those days but unfortunately it was all short live I lost dad tragically in 1979 but I have the memories of both my grandparents and my mum and dad
Mum used to bag coal every day ready for the coal man to deliver on his rounds all hard work but happy times hope you enjoy me reminiscing just lovely to share days gone by
I could write a book xx by @unique_prams
