Wednesday, November 18th// Unisong Presents Guided Song Circle

What medicine does your heart need? Perhaps your soul cries out to sing and clap in joy, to grieve trom your very depths, to shout in anger at injustice, to sing praise to nature, or to hum in deep vibrational connection with others.

During this 90 minute journey designed for beginner and experienced singers alike, we will guide you through singing and movement that invite release, restoration, and healing of the heart.

We are a week away from the start of our 6-week grief and song series, From Holding to Flowing, a collaboration with the Living Arts Collective. It is fall. Days are getting shorter and colder. We are moving into what used to be a season of rest for our ancestors, and yet for many of us, our schedules are getting even busier!

We get it. In the midst of so many mid-autumn to-dos, grief can seem like the last thing we have time for. But it is just when life is busiest that we must take time to stop and hold space for what is within us.

We are still looking for a few more people to join this intimate cohort looking for connection and healing. This will not be a "busy" experience. Each week we will take time to arrive in our bodies, to breathe deeply, to move slowly, and to sing the deep vibration of healing and rest. Yes, we will explore grief, but gently - with tenderness, compassion and awareness of all that we carry.

It's okay if you can't make every class. It's okay to stay home and rest sometimes. We trust you to know what you need.

Register in bio. We would love to have your presence on this journey.

What an amazing turnout for our Fireside Song Circle at Common Ground Ecovillage - despite rain! 🌧️

We connected around a cozy fire, enjoyed warm mugs of hibiscus and ginger tea brought by a participant, and wove our voices together in songs about fire, water, earth and light.

It is such an honor to witness how song brings community together in joy, grief, play and connection.

Thank you @lila.gaia for this incredible song, Sing Upon Joy. And thank you to @interbeingparty, @common.ground.ecovillage and Many Turtles Learning Collective for hosting us.

If you are part of a group in the Piedmont NC area interested in creating a joyful, connective experience through song, please reach out! We would love to create a magical experience with you.

Last night's debut song circle @ The Plant was playful and soulful. Our new home at Fair Game Beverage has amazing acoustics - we sounded so good that Fair Game employees and patrons kept peeking into the room to see what was going on! We loved the playfulness of this group as we ad libbed and experimented with new songs. We are so grateful to everyone who showed up and look forward to continuing to grow together in the new space!

We sang of belonging and the importance rest. We sang of hearts open to grief and joy and connected with the light in our centers. We reminded each other that we already have what we seek. We prayed that all places know love.

The first song featured in this reel, Let Life Move Me by Scott Grace, reminded us to accept both laughter and tears. And the second song, We Are by Sweet Honey in the Rock, helped us resonate with oneness.

Our Fireside Song Circle at Common Ground Ecovillage is still on this evening from 6-7:30pm! We know the weather is forecasting clouds and maybe some drizzle, but we still plan to gather around a cozy fire (and we have a nearby indoor space as a backup just in case) to co-create a space to slow down, reconnect with the land, and weave harmonies with each other through song. In fact, we can even sing about rain - we welcome nature in all its beautiful forms!

In addition to partnering with Common Ground Ecovillage, this event will also be part of NC Climate Week. We hope you can join us to increase climate awareness and community resilience around climate change.

Saturday, October 3rd @ 6:00 - 7:30pm

This song "This is a Wave" by Sarina Partridge, is one of our favorites to help grief flow and to remind us that we are strong enough to be present with our grief.

Music is a powerful grief tender - so is community. That's why beginning this October, Unisong and The Living Arts Collective are collaborating to offer a 6 week series on grief and song called From Holding to Flowing: Releasing Grief Through Song. In a closed, intimate container, we will build the trust and tender presence to show up with our messiness, our grief, and our deep longing for healing and connection. Come exactly as you are - no musical experience necessary.

Through embodied movement, compassionate witnessing, and the transformative power of music and song, we will guide you on a journey from holding grief to a place of release and creative flow.

Come join us - and find your voice, your people and your joy.

Dates: Tuesdays - Oct 13, Oct 20, Oct 27, Nov 3, Nov 10, Nov 17

Time: 6:30-8:30pm
Location: Living Arts Collective, 410 W Geer St, Durham (downstairs, studio A)

Cost: Sliding scale $200-$260

On Saturday, October 3rd let your wild side out for an evening of shared songs inspired by the rhythms of nature. Gathering in a circle around a fire, we will co-create a space to slow down, reconnect with the land, and weave harmonies of voice and communion with all beings. No musical experience is needed--And we promise a song with a wolf howl once the moon is out!

In addition to partnering with Common Ground Ecovillage, this event will also be part of NC Climate Week. We hope you can join us to increase climate awareness and community resilience around climate change.

Week-by-week

Each week will focus on a different stage of grief, pairing each with a corresponding natural element, an embodiment practice and an invitation to musical creativity to guide us from holding grief to releasing into joy.

Oct 13 - Week 1 (Sadness) we will incorporate Water and ceremony to build trust and community in our intimate cohort, to share parts of our grief journey and to open our creative channels through musical improvisation.

Oct 20 - Week 2 (Denial) we will incorporate Earth, movement, and the practice of community witnessing to tap into stuck places and release into creative flow.

Oct 27 - Week 3 (Bargaining) we will incorporate Air, breathwork, and improvisational sound exercises to soothe and regulate the parts of ourselves that resist the present moment.

Nov 3 - Week 4 (Anger) we will incorporate Fire, percussion, and vocalization to connect with sacred rage and invite anger to flow towards right action.

Nov 10 - Week 5 (Acceptance) we will invoke radical acceptance of Self through an invitation to befriend our grief at all stages and a gentle practice of community co-regulation to remind us that we belong.

Nov 17 - Week 6 (Witnessing Our Grief Journeys) each participant will be invited to use sound, words and movement to recount their grief journey over the series and to be held in sacred witness by our community cohort. In this final practice, we are seen, we are held, we are not alone.
