The YouthFluencer initiative empowers young people to champion change through social media. For @theonlyadrian, a 24-year-old from Zimbabwe, the initiative opened up new ways to breakdown jargon-heavy topics into everyday conversations. It enabled them to lead campaigns on mental health, HIV prevention, and treatment, sparking critical conversations around Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) in conservative spaces while encouraging youth to access youth-friendly clinical services.

For Nomonde Ngema, the YouthFluencer initiative serves as a program designed to help young advocates move beyond simple content creation and story-sharing toward strategically communicating vital information to improve the lives of adolescent girls and young women. The initiative aims to equip participants with the tools to translate access to information into real-world behavior change and action.

Reflecting on her experience, Nomonde described the program as transformative, purposeful, and collaborative. She shared that it challenged her to reframe influence, shifting her focus from merely raising awareness to driving social change, while demonstrating that collaborating with others magnifies passion and strengthens individual purpose.

During their site visit to Africa Young Sex Workers Alliance (YoSWA), @unitedmovementesa joined us in reflecting on what it means to grow a young sex workers led movement on our own terms.
For us, growth is not about becoming bigger or more bureaucratic to prove our legitimacy but about building systems that grow with us, centre our lived experiences and expertise, and recognise the knowledge we carry as valuable movement currency. by @unitedmovementesa

Throughout the #SheKnowsSeries, we’ve heard from adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) as they shared their lived experiences — their realities, challenges, hopes and perspectives on their bodies, relationships, health, rights, communities and the systems around them.

The series has reminded us that young women and girls already hold knowledge rooted in their own realities.

But knowing shouldn’t be where the story ends.

She deserves to be heard.
She deserves to be believed.
She deserves a seat at the table.

And when young women come together, knowledge becomes collective power.

She Knows. We Listen. We Act. We Change. ✨
