Congratulations to Addison Krueger for being the winner of our first-ever National Forensic Science Week Scavenger Hunt!

It was awesome to see everyone out hunting for clues. There were quite a few people who found all the clues, so we did a raffle with everyone whose name was on all 50 clues. We hope you enjoyed the scavenger hunt and had an awesome National Forensic Science Week.

Note for next year: we will have to make it harder. Our students have great investigative skills! by @unl_forensicsci

As we wrap up Forensic Science Appreciation Week we want to take a moment and show our appreciation for our crime scene house located on campus.
This house is a unique resource available to our students for introductory and upper level courses to use to simulate processing various types of crime scenes.
The Forensics Club also uses this space to put on fun events, such as their fundraiser escape room taking place today.

Happy Forensic Science Appreciation week!

We asked Professor Retelsdorf to share a story about how an experience she had in school applied to her job and to the processes she employs here at the University. She shared about her pattern analysis class.

Hopefully you all find something this week that makes you appreciate forensic science more!

- September 20th - 26th is National Forensic Science Week!

- Starting next Monday, September 21st, at 7:00 am through Friday at 5:00 pm you can compete in the first-ever Forensic Science Scavenger Hunt for Forensic Science students!

- Rules: Look for the pieces of paper with magnifying glasses around the Filley Hall basement. Scan the QR code and enter your first and last name. There will be 50 unique QR codes, and they are labeled 1-50 on the handle of the magnifying glass. Please only enter your name once for each QR code/magnifying glass. Whoever finds the most QR codes will be the winner. If we have multiple people who find all 50 QR codes, or the same amount, then they will be entered into a raffle. Disclaimers: Please do not take any down. They will remain up all week until Friday, September 25th at 5:00 pm. Do not damage property in the basement. They will not be placed anywhere that causes you to pull anything off the wall or move objects. They will only be placed in common spaces. You shouldn't have to stand on furniture or objects either.

- The winner will be announced by the end of the week following the scavenger hunt. The winner will receive a voucher for a free Forensic Science shirt when the club orders them in the spring, a CASNR shirt, an Ag Econ shirt, two Dairy Store coupons, and cool swag from other departments. Thank you to everyone who donated!

- If you're in the basement, stop by and get candy and say hello!

- If you have any questions, let us know! You can email Logan or message us! by @unl_forensicsci

Officially meet your 2026-2027 Forensic Science Ambassadors!

The ambassadors meet with prospective students to answer questions about the department from a student view. They are also here for current students if they need an upperclassman’s assistance. We are proud to have them represent our department in this way.

As a heads up, applications for next year’s ambassadors go live in the Spring time, so stay tuned if you can see yourself as an ambassador! by @unl_forensicsci
