TRAPPED IN SCARS : We are living in a world where our society judges a person by their skin colour. It is so deeply enrooted in people's minds that when a person is suffering from a vitiligo skin problem, it is seen as a scar or even worse a penance for the karma of their previous life. Nature never discriminates between individuals before giving life to them, so as a part of the society, we should accept everyone just the way they are and make everyone feel that they're beautiful.

“The jump of confidence.
One usual day in winters, while passing through the narrow lanes besides the ghats, a monkey sitting at the edge of a terrace caught my eye. His actions gave me an intuition that he might jump off from one side of the street to the other side. I was quick enough to get myself ready to capture it. This jump made me realise that many times the people who see us don't believe in us because they lack confidence in our actions. But if you are confident in yourself, you can break free people's opinions and achieve your goals.”

I photographed this place years ago, when I was in Varanasi. It was just another frame from the ghats a temple, boats, people, and the Ganga flowing quietly beside them.

Today, the landscape around Manikarnika is changing in the name of redevelopment. Old structures and sacred spaces are being altered, and seeing this happen in my city is deeply disheartening.

As someone who was born and raised in Varanasi, this is deeply painful to witness.

Kashi has never been just a city of buildings. Its identity lives in its narrow lanes, old temples, ghats, stones, rituals, stories and in the countless small details that have survived through generations. These places carry memories that cannot simply be reconstructed once they are gone.

Looking at this photograph today feels completely different. What I once saw as an ordinary moment has become a document of a disappearing piece of my city.

Development is necessary. Cities must evolve. But I keep wondering - does progress always have to come at the cost of memory?

Four years later, this photograph feels like a letter from a city that no longer exists in the same way. Banaras has changed, and so have I. But somewhere old Banaras still lives in me. ❤️

Ken–Betwa Protest | Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh | 18–19 July 2026

For two days, I documented tribal communities protesting against displacement linked to the Ken–Betwa River Linking Project. Through the symbolic Chita Andolan, families lay on funeral pyres and stood in the river to express their fear of losing their homes, forests, and livelihoods. They demanded fair compensation, proper rehabilitation, and that earlier promises be honored.

These photographs are a record of resilience, grief, and resistance. On 19 July, the protest site was cleared and several protesters were detained by the police.
