You’re lifting weights…but still losing bone. Ugh. That happened to me too! And I am a professional.

You can train consistently and still lose bone density in midlife.
Because bone does not respond to effort. It responds to impact load.
Due to a neck and foot injury I stopped jumping a few years ago and I couldn’t believe it when my DEXA Scan showed BONE LOSS. Me??? I lift heavy at least three times a week and I’m very active. But I wasn’t loading enough!!!

The good news is we now know that you can actually build bone even after menopause.

To stimulate bone, you need roughly 3 times your bodyweight in ground reaction force. Walking does not reach that. Most traditional training does not either.
Impact work like jumps and hops does.
This type of loading signals bone to maintain and build density. It also improves power and coordination, which protects you from falls.
What works:
2 to 3 jump sessions per week. 3 to 5 sets of 3 to 5 reps. Full recovery between sets
Low volume. High quality. Enough force.
This is not random jumping. It is targeted loading for bone and longevity.
Train strength. Add impact. Protect your structure.
Are you actually loading your bones enough?
Share this with someone who thinks just lifting is enough. You want to age with strength, stability and balance. This is something you MUST do to avoid aging with frailty and fall risk.

Age is not the main driver of muscle loss!
Anabolic resistance reduces amino acid use. This reduces muscle growth and signaling, which is why protein needs and resistance training loads need to increase with age!
Most adults over age 40 require at least 1.2 g per kg per day at a minimum!
Older adults may need up to 2 g per kg per day to slow sarcopenia. That’s what I try to get every day.
The evidence shows you CAN build muscle at any age when protein and load increase and that you’re not losing muscle because you’re getting older. You’re losing it because you’re not lifting and not getting enough protein.
Even if you’re lifting heavy, IF you’re not getting adequate amounts of protein you will not maximize your muscle growth.

At 60 my health improved more from what I stopped doing instead of what I added!
These are the habits I let go of.
1. I stopped drinking coffee first thing.
I start my day with 20 to 30 ounces of water to rehydrate my body. Coffee first made my stomach upset and dehydrated me even more.
2. I stopped playing around with protein.
Now I make sure I get around 30 grams at every meal so I can keep my muscle, stay satiated longer, and protect my metabolism.
3. I stopped drinking alcohol. The few times I did drink, it just ruined my sleep, raised my anxiety the next day, and made me more tired and less eager to do things. My body and my mind feel much better without it.
4. I stopped making excuses about lifting heavy.
After 40 muscle is essential. Heavy lifting is how we grow muscle, protect bones, strength, brain health and future independence.
5. I stopped pretending I did not need zone 3 cardio. I thought I could get away with that. Now
I know I have to do it for my heart, my lungs, and my longevity. Not for calories burned.
6. I stopped treating sleep like an afterthought or a negotiable.
Deep and enough sleep is where hormone repair, brain detox, and muscle recovery happen. Protecting my sleep protects everything else.
7. I stopped hiding from direct sunlight.
Morning light in my eyes supports my central nervous system and circadian rhythm. Late afternoon sun gives me long wavelength light which benefits my longevity and eyesight. I still protect my skin. I just no longer run away from all exposure.
8. I stopped believing I had to do MORE of everything.
Now I choose the right inputs. Strength. Smart cardio. Real food. Breath work. Nature, Yoga. Recovery. My nervous system is much happier and my health markers are better.

What do you want to stop in 2026 to protect your future self.

I’m 61 now, but this is something I want women in their thirties and forties to know: perimenopause can begin earlier than you might expect. For some women, changes start in their thirties. And you may not even correlate the symptoms with perimenopause!

So what can you start doing now? Research confirms this:

• Make strength training part of your week. If you do nothing else, this is it!

• Build your aerobic fitness with brisk walks, cycling or another activity you enjoy.

• Give sleep a regular place in your schedule.

• Build meals around protein and include fiber.

• Ask about your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar at your next appointment. If possible get a hormone panel to establish your baseline.

You don’t need to overhaul your whole life at once. Pick one area that needs more attention and start there. Then build on it if it feels right for you.

Save this and start incorporating these habits now. Share it with a friend who needs to see this.

Ever wonder what 100 calories of Halloween candy actually looks like? 🎃

Candy has never really been my thing. If I want a treat, I’d rather have some very dark chocolate or Trufuit. But if you enjoy Halloween candy, I thought this visual would be useful.

Choose what you really enjoy, set a portion aside, and take the time to enjoy it. You don’t need to eat something just because it’s sitting in the bowl.

These portions are approximate, so check your package label for the size you’re eating.

And when you eat a lot of simple sugar your blood sugar might spike and then crash. Try eating some extra protein so you avoid this. Save this guide and share it with a friend. Which portion surprised you most?

A protein bar or shake that tastes good and doesn’t leave me bloated? That’s one I’ll keep buying.

After decades of trying all kinds of bars and powders, Atlas bars and TumLove protein powder are my current go-tos.

They taste good, have the clean ingredients I’m looking for, and don’t contain sugar alcohols. And the biggest thing for me? No bloating.

If you’ve struggled to find one that agrees with your stomach, you know how much that matters.

My tip: 🔖 read the ingredients, not just the protein count. Look for sugar alcohols like erythritol, sorbitol, maltitol and xylitol. These can cause digestive discomfort, including gas and bloating, in some people. Your tolerance and the amount you eat matter.

These two work well for me. Finding what works for your stomach can take a little trial and error.

Head to my story or DM me for the shopping link.

Tired, foggy and losing strength in midlife?

I hear this from so many women.

Start with strength training two to three times a week. Add cardio you enjoy, balance work and some impact if it is appropriate for you.

You do not need an hour. Twenty focused minutes still counts.

Support your training with enough protein and whole foods. This is how we build strength, energy and confidence in midlife.

I am answering your questions. Comment below what you want to hear about next!

I’m using GHK-Cu, and I’ve noticed a good change in my skin. More glow, smaller pores, smoother lines. I also tried BPC-157 and stopped when my resting heart rate went up and sleep became difficult.

Sylvia @sylviafpozo asked whether peptides really help with strength, mental sharpness, and more. It’s a good question, because “peptides” covers many different compounds. What we know about one doesn’t automatically apply to another.

In this reel, I’m sharing my experience and where the research fits in.

Which peptide are you curious about? Leave its name below so I know what to cover next.

$This is something I hear a lot. “I don’t like weight training. What can I do instead?” My honest answer is that there is no substitute for resistance training. As women age, especially after menopause, we lose muscle, strength and bone. If we do nothing to challenge them, we increase our risk of weakness, instability, falls and fractures. Nearly 75% of hip fractures happen in women, and reported mortality can reach 20% to 24% in the first year afterward. Yes, those numbers should scare you a little. But they should also motivate you, because there is so much you can do now. You do not have to love the gym. Find a form of resistance training you can stick with and start. Your strength is your independence. Let’s go!!! Are you lifting? #StrengthTrainingForWomen #MenopauseFitness #BoneHealth #HealthyAging #StrongForLife by @unnigreene$
