Family travel without the tourist traps.
Culture, lovely places & smart splurges

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I’m Margot. Two teenagers, an affection for European cities, and a firm belief that the right hotel can make a trip. The wrong one can become the entire story.

Here you’ll find family travel, culture, useful recommendations and the occasional excellent find. I like beautiful things. I’m equally fond of a sensible decision.

One thing worth knowing from the start: Margot is an alter ego with a real person behind her. The aim here is practical, researched advice, never invented personal reviews.

Welcome to The Margot Edit.

I usually believe in a well-planned itinerary.

But occasionally, I’m willing to let fate take the wheel. ✈️

Pause the Reel. Where did you land?

And more importantly, are we booking flights or politely asking fate to try again?

No cheating. Margot is watching.

Even New York icons need a little maintenance. ✨

The Plaza is checking out for a four-year makeover, and somewhere, Kevin McCallister is demanding to speak to the manager.

Last call for afternoon tea, Eloise. ☕️

The legendary NYC landmark is expected to close in January 2027, with a comeback no earlier than 2031.

So, the question is: one last visit before checkout, or wait for the grand reopening?

Some New York love stories are worth waiting for.

Save this for your next NYC trip. 🗽

The Renaissance has survived worse than a teenager’s review.

Keep the museum visit manageable. Feed everyone first. Leave time for the shop they actually wanted to visit.

They don’t have to love every stop. Neither do you.

And take the pictures. The request for “that one from Italy” tends to arrive several weeks after the complaints.

📍 @jimmihuette , Passo Gardena, Dolomites, Italy.
A cosy mountain restaurant with local flavours and a rather persuasive view.

They’re at the age where everything is “cringe.”

I’m at the age where I know how quickly this part goes.

So we’re making the memories. They can review my parenting later. by @unscriptedmargot

Took them to Madrid for art, history and culture.

They discovered Wi-Fi, Zara and several compelling arguments against walking.

Family travel is going beautifully.

Send this to the person who plans the family itinerary anyway.
