Every child deserves safety, truth, and a system that protects not harms them.
Right now, too many families are trapped in systems that prioritise procedure over people: a pro‑contact culture that overlooks danger, flawed investigations that miss evidence, and laws that still allow violence against children. Survivors fleeing abuse meet barriers instead of support, while those failed by services are left to fend for themselves.
These reforms matter because they shift responsibility back where it belongs on the state, the systems, and the professionals entrusted with children’s lives. Some truths take time to surface.

But coercive control depends on one thing: keeping the truth hidden.

Behind closed doors, reality can be distorted, minimised, denied and rewritten. Survivors may be questioned. Mothers may be judged. Children may be caught in systems that fail to see what is happening beneath the surface.

Yet truth has a way of becoming visible.

We believe survivors.
We listen to mothers.
We document what systems overlook.
And we keep asking the uncomfortable questions.

We heal out loud. We speak truth. We create systemic change.

Manche Wahrheiten brauchen Zeit, um sichtbar zu werden.

Doch coercive control – Macht und Kontrolle – lebt davon, dass die Wahrheit verborgen bleibt.

🎃 The scariest horror stories don’t always end when the relationship does.

Sometimes the monster doesn’t disappear. It changes tactics.

The control continues.
The children become messengers, leverage or bargaining chips.
Motherhood becomes a battlefield.
And family proceedings become another arena in which the abuse can unfold.

Meanwhile, the person raising concerns is labelled difficult, uncooperative or vindictive.

The person causing harm gets to perform victimhood.
The mother gets to defend her sanity.
And the children get caught in the crossfire.

That’s the horror of post-separation abuse and coercive control by proxy.

A court case number doesn’t make abuse disappear.
A co-parenting label doesn’t make coercion harmless.
And institutional involvement doesn’t automatically mean protection.

Because sometimes the real nightmare isn’t what happened before separation.

It’s what happens when separation doesn’t end the control.

🎃 Die gruseligsten Horrorgeschichten enden nicht immer mit der Trennung.

Manchmal verschwindet das Monster nicht. Es ändert nur seine Taktik.

Die Kontrolle geht weiter.
Die Kinder werden zu Boten, Druckmitteln oder Verhandlungsmasse.
Mutterschaft wird zum Schlachtfeld.
Und familiengerichtliche Verfahren werden zu einer weiteren Bühne, auf der sich der Missbrauch fortsetzen kann.

Währenddessen wird die Mutter, die auf das Geschehen aufmerksam macht, als schwierig, unkooperativ oder rachsüchtig abgestempelt.

Die Person, die den Schaden verursacht, inszeniert sich als Opfer.
Die Mutter muss ihre eigene Glaubwürdigkeit verteidigen.
Und die Kinder geraten zwischen die Fronten.

Das ist der Albtraum von Gewalt nach der Trennung und Missbrauch über Dritte.

Ein Aktenzeichen lässt Gewalt nicht verschwinden.
Das Etikett „gemeinsame Elternschaft“ macht Kontrolle nicht harmlos.
Und die Beteiligung staatlicher Stellen bedeutet nicht automatisch Schutz.

Denn manchmal beginnt der eigentliche Albtraum nicht vor der Trennung.

Sondern dann, wenn die Trennung der Kontrolle kein Ende setzt.

The truth is there are people working with children, who are watching children being harmed, actively enabling, failing to document signs, failing to uphold their duties in public office to protect.

I’m not sure how people would feel if their child disclosed serious harm and was ignored?

Please anyone reading this ask questions, if 500,000 children are being exposed to sexual abuse every year, where are the convictions of child abuse?

If children are victims, in their own right, when they witness DV and there are 3.3 million reports every year - where are the convictions for child abuse? Where is the accountability? #childsafetyfirst

What’s going on within the family courts is criminal and a complete violation of the UNCRC

We have a NATIONAL CHILD PROTECTION CRISIS. The silencing of abuse, including child sexual abuse and paedophilia, and the ways in which abusers are enabled, protected and emboldened within our family court system must be exposed.

THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION FOR ALL ADVOCATES, CAMPAIGNERS, SURVIVORS AND ORGANISATIONS.

We need to unite, organise and take this movement beyond social media and into the public eye. We need coordinated action, public awareness, accountability and urgent reform.

The tide is beginning to turn, but we have the power to accelerate change.

CHILDREN CANNOT WAIT. THEIR RIGHTS ARE NOT OPTIONAL. THEIR SAFETY IS NOT NEGOTIABLE.

It is particularly relevant when examining whether a person entrusted with protecting children has improperly used their authority, breached their responsibilities or engaged in misconduct.

In child protection, it is important to distinguish between abuse perpetrated against a child and wrongdoing by the institutions responsible for protecting that child. Malfeasance may arise in either context, depending on the person’s role and the nature of the conduct. The question remains - how are they held responsible?

If you can look a child in the eye, repeatedly tell them that their abuse never happened, that they are lying, and deliberately silence their voice, then you are NOT protecting that child. YOU ARE PROTECTING THE ABUSER.

Let that sink in. A child finds the courage to speak about abuse, only to be met with denial, intimidation and accusations of dishonesty from the very adults entrusted with their protection. That is not safeguarding. That is psychological harm. And what makes this even more vile and disturbing is that we have a family court system in which such behaviour is enabled, excused and emboldened, rather than challenged and held to account.

When a system silences children instead of protecting them, it becomes part of the problem.

Children’s voices are not an inconvenience. Their safety is not negotiable. And no professional should ever be above accountability.

LET’S BE ABSOLUTELY CLEAR: WHEN A CHILD DISCLOSES ABUSE AND THE RESPONSE IS TO SILENCE, INTIMIDATE OR DISCREDIT THEM, THAT IS NOT CHILD PROTECTION. THAT IS A BETRAYAL OF EVERY DUTY OF CARE OWED TO THAT CHILD.

AND WHEN A SYSTEM ALLOWS THAT BETRAYAL TO CONTINUE, IT IS NO LONGER ENOUGH TO ASK FOR CHANGE. WE MUST DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY.

CHILDREN SHOULD NEVER HAVE TO SURVIVE THEIR ABUSE AND THEN FIGHT THE VERY SYSTEM THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT THEM.

THIS IS NOT SAFEGUARDING. THIS IS A CHILD PROTECTION CRISIS. AND SILENCE IS NO LONGER AN OPTION. by @unsilenced_voice
