Due to high demand, we’ve now added another extra tour date along our Afghanistan Central route, in April 2027 (our other April tour has sold out).

We also have a small number of spaces left on our 16-day adventure in September 2027. These photos were from our group trip last month.

Our adventure takes us deep into the heart of Afghanistan, beginning in the capital, Kabul, before setting off on an epic overland journey through some of the country’s most spectacular and remote landscapes.

Our first destination is the breathtaking mountainous province of Bamian, where we explore ancient Buddhist cave networks and visit Band-e Amir, Afghanistan’s first National Park, renowned for its striking turquoise-blue lakes.

From here, we travel west through Afghanistan’s rugged Central Highlands, passing through remote mountain landscapes and isolated communities on our way to Chagcharan. We then continue to one of the country’s most extraordinary historical landmarks, the Minaret of Jam.

The journey continues to Herat, an ancient Silk Road trading city, then turn south towards Lashkar Gah and Kandahar, before heading east through Ghazni and eventually completing our remarkable circuit in Kabul.

The trip also begins in Pakistan, visiting Peshawar & if conditions allow, cross the infamous Khyber Pass to Afghanistan (if not, we fly).

Our next two trips to Socotra are due to depart soon, but it’s sadly too late to book. However, we have a group trip in April, which has a small number of spaces left.

The 8-day adventure takes in the phenomenal range of landscapes on the Yemeni island – including pristine beaches, mountain ranges, forests, canyons, sand dunes, cave networks and we visit its marine reserves.

It’s one of the most ecologically diverse locations on earth, often coined the Galapagos of the East, due to its immense array of plant life, wildlife and marine life – some which are only found on Socotra.

On our tour we have chance to camp on remote beaches, go on a boat tour and hike, snorkel and swim in natural fresh water pools, along with the crystal blue sea.

A tour for nature lovers, which is available to book now via the link below (clickable in our bio) or email – info@untamedborders.com – for details about our group and private services on the island.

In March we’re returning to spend time with the tribes of South Sudan on a 7-day immersive group tour.

These photos were taken on this year’s adventure, where we visited the Mundari, Larim and Toposa tribes.

We started by visiting the capital of the world’s youngest nation, Juba, then headed out into the bush to explore regions home to fascinating tribal communities.

We met the Toposa tribe, who are known for their elaborate piercings and body scarification rituals, the Larim – who are master hut builders, and the Mundari, who are famed for their strong affinity with the long-horned Ankole-Watusi cattle.

Throughout the trip we also spotted wildlife and we had chance to experience the Boya Mountains, alongside enjoying a rich cultural experience.

You can book now via the link below (clickable in our bio) or email – info@untamedborders.com – for further details.

We now have two trips available to book along our Iraq - Cradle of Civilisation route in 2027, March and October.

The newly refreshed route includes the additions of Mosul, Hatra, Ninevah and we finish in Erbil.

The 10-day adventure travels through the heartland of Iraq, covering a vast swathe of the country – stretching from the Arabian Sea at Basra, right up to Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan.

We journey through areas home to of some of the first civilisations, visiting the ancient Sumerian sites of Ur and Uruk, along with ancient Babylon and the capital Baghdad.

We will see the legacy of Iraq’s place as the centre of Islamic world through a visit to Samarra, a UNESCO world heritage site, with its iconic spiral minaret. We also explore modern Iraq by mingling with the pilgrims in Karbala and Najaf, the two holy places of Shia Islam, as well as visiting some of Saddam Hussein’s old palaces.

We venture south to Iraq’s marshlands, where the great Euphrates and Tigris Rivers converge, exploring the area by boat and we spend time in the city of Basra. The tail end of the trip sees us head north, to the UNESCO sites at Hatra, the capital of the first Arab Kingdom, then on to the city of Mosul, before finishing in Erbil.

Book now via the link below in our bio or email – info@untamedborders.com – for further details.

In March we’re returning to the slopes of Afghanistan on a group ski trip.

We pioneered ski tours to the country back in 2011 and on our 10-day trip you will not only enjoy a backcountry skiing adventure in this conventional destination, but also enjoy a rich cultural experience.

After beginning in the capital, Kabul, we then head to the beautiful mountainous Bamian Province, taking in the area’s ancient Buddhist caves and carvings.

It’s here we then take to our skis in the Koh-e-Baba Mountain Range and explore vast areas of snowcapped peaks, some of which has never been skied before.

You head out with an experienced international guide and Afghan team, charting your own path into pristine nature.

You’ll also meet some of the Afghan skiing community, some who ski on homemade wood skis and team up with the Bamyan Alpine Ski Club, which was set-up by international visitors to help support the Afghan ski community and provide opportunities for Afghans to ski. It was recently featured in an Emmy award winning film – Champions of the Golden Valley – which we provided logistics for.

There is also the chance to take part in the mixed-ability Afghan Peaks Ski Race, the highlight of the nation’s skiing calendar, before we return to finish in Kabul.

The tour is available to book now via the link below (clickable in our bio) or you can email – info@untamedborders.com – for further details.

New photos from our summer trekking adventure into the stunning Pamir Mountain Lakes region of Tajikistan.

On the 16-adventure we started in Dushanbe, before heading on a 4-day road-trip along the epic Pamir Highway to our trail head.

We then began hiking, climbing into one of the least visited of all the Greater Mountain Ranges in Asia, a gorgeous wilderness, home to many remote alpine lakes.

We traversed vast valley and hiked alongside snow-capped peaks, in a rarely explored corner of the world.

Part of the tour included scaling a mountain pass that’s taller than Mont Blanc and we spent a number of nights camping in beautiful settings, alongside shimmering blue lakes.

We also passed century’s old caravanserais on our journey, with the region sitting on the ancient Silk Road, and we met semi-nomadic herders, as we enjoyed days of unspoiled nature.

A truly awesome hiking adventure, which we’ll be organising again in 2027. You can register an interest now by emailing – info@untamedborders.com – or find out more information by visiting the link below

Our next group tour along our Afghanistan Central Route is now full, but we’ve just released a new set of dates for September 2027.

On the 16-day adventure you visit the capital, Kabul, then embark on a long road-trip – first visiting the beautiful mountainous Bamian Province. Here we visit its Buddhist cave networks and the country’s first National Park – Band e Amir – famed for its dazzling blue lakes.

We continue west, through the country’s Central Highlands, visiting Chagcharan and spend a night at the awe-inspiring Minaret of Jam.

Our journey then takes us to the historic Silk Road city, Herat, which contains the largest and finest collection of ancient buildings in Afghanistan.

We then loop south to Lashkar Gah and Kandahar, before continuing east to Ghazni and finishing back in Kabul.

The tour is due to begin in Pakistan and if conditions allow, we will cross the infamous Khyber Pass by road and if it isn’t possible at the time, we will fly.

We have two group trips departing to Mauritania over the next 6 months - November this year & March 2027, but there is only one space left on the upcoming trip.

Over 13-days we explore this vast desert nation, venturing into its immense dune filled landscape, its mountains and we spend time on the coast.

The adventure begins in the capital Nouakchott, before heading deep into the Sahara. Over the following days, we travel through a constantly changing landscape of harsh desert, dramatic rock formations and pass through remote settlements, that have long provided stopping points for traders and nomads.

Along the way, we visit hidden oasis pools and camp beneath some of the clearest night skies on earth. The journey also takes us across rugged mountain passes to the spectacular Richat Structure, better known as the “Eye of Africa”. We also discover ancient rock art and visit several UNESCO World Heritage sites, including the historic desert towns of Ouadane and Chinguetti.

During the final stages of the trip, there is also the opportunity to experience the legendary Iron Ore Train, one of the world’s most extraordinary railway journeys, before we return to Mauritania’s Atlantic coastline and finish the expedition back in Nouakchott.

You can book now via the link below, also clickable in our bio, or email info@untamedborders.com for further details.

In May we’re returning to phenomenal North of Pakistan on a 14-day road-trip through one of the most beautiful mountain areas on earth.

On our journey we’ll drive past some of the world’s tallest mountains, while following the legendary Karakoram Highway, stopping in ancient towns, visiting historic sites and spending time with a tapestry of different communities.

We start by flying from Islamabad to Skardu in the north, then join the famous Karakoram Highway as we carve through the mountains to Gilgit and the wonderful Hunza Valley. Here we visit ancient forts, before continuing on to the jagged mountains around Passu, walk across the Husseini rope-bridge and spend time at Attabad Lake.

We climb up as high as the Chinese border at Khunjerab, then head over the Shandur Pass – home to the world’s highest polo ground and drop into the lush Chitral Valley. From there we continue south to the fascinating Kalasha Valleys, home to animist and pagan tribes, who we spend time with.

Our trip concludes in the buzzing Silk Road city of Peshawar, famed both historically and to this day, for its wonderful bazaars, markets and street food.

You can book on now via the link below (clickable in our bio) or email – info@untamedborders.com – for further details. We’ll also soon be releasing dates for Autumn 2027.

New photos from our recent group trip along the phenomenal Pamir Highway.

The route from Dushanbe in Tajikistan, to Osh in Kyrgyzstan, is often viewed as one of the world’s most remarkable road-trips.

Over 13-days we traversed more than 1,200km along this famous route, evoking the spirit of the ancient-Silk Road, crossing Central Asia by land, through jaw-dropping scenery.

We stopped at historic sites along the way, met the communities who live in this remote corner of the world and were blessed with incredible landscapes.

Along the way we stayed in traditional homestays and guest-houses, crossed high mountain passes and stopped at lakes, as we made our way east.

A wonderful adventure, which we’re looking forward to returning to with guests in the future. You can register an interest now for our next Pamir Highway tour by emailing – info@untamedborders.com – or find out more by visiting the link below (clickable in our bio).

Brand new photos from a recent private trip to Libya, which we organised for a guest earlier this month.

The 4-day tour focused on the capital Tripoli and wonderful nearby Roman era sites – Leptis Magna and Sabratha.

The remains are some of the finest found anywhere on earth and they’re places we visit on our Libya in 7-days group tours.

On our group trips we also venture into the Jebel Nafusa hills, visit the oasis town of Ghadames and sample a slice of the Sahara. The next departure available to book is in January 2027 and we will soon be releasing more dates in 2027 (clickable link in our bio). Register an interest now by emailing – info@untamedborders.com
